Casa Saman
Description
Follow the drive lined with palm trees until the quiet of the resort deepens and you see Casa Saman, which is low, sun-kissed, and surrounded by a broad expanse of lawn that resembles a botanical garden rather than a backyard.
This four-bedroom retreat, situated on a large, private lot in Casa de Campo, is designed for relaxation. It features an open-concept living room that effortlessly transitions into a shaded patio, a well-equipped kitchen that makes breakfasts last, and sightlines that take you past comfortable seating and dining to the pool and the surrounding green space. Doors open, curtains lift in response to the breeze, and the soundtrack reverts to birds, palms, and the soft murmur of sprinklers on far-off fairways. The house is in easy conversation with nature. It’s the kind of place where you intentionally lose track of time because the atmosphere is relaxed and laid back, even at midday.
The garden is the main attraction outside. Mature trees throw generous shade, hibiscus and bougainvillea edge the lawn in color, and a broad terrace holds everything from unplanned lunches to starlit dinners without ever asking you to move inside.
The pool is positioned precisely where the light wants it to be—warm in the evening for a final soak before bed, bright in the morning for wake-up laps—and there is enough room between the water and the vegetation for children to wander around while adults wrap up a conversation. When you want to dial the day down, stretch out on a lounger and let the trade winds do their work; when you want to gather, the patio becomes a living room with better air.
Simplicity reads as intention indoors. Cool linens, blackout where it matters, and luggage-swallowing storage make the peaceful, well-designed bedrooms feel like yours by day two. The living area carries a soft, coastal palette—linen, sand, pale wood—so the eye keeps returning to garden and sky.
The kitchen has everything you need, including enough prep space for a private chef night or a family pizza session after the beach, as well as adequate refrigeration for a market run. Casa Saman is designed to make you feel at ease, to encourage you to go outside, and to keep you there as the light changes and the breeze cools, rather than to impress with gloss.
What surrounds the villa is everything travelers look for in Casa de Campo villas, close enough to feel spontaneous and far enough that the hush remains when you return.
Minitas Beach is typically five to ten minutes by car or golf cart for calm, swimmable water and a beachfront café; the Teeth of the Dog clubhouse and spa sit in the same band; Casa de Campo Marina—with restaurants, provisioning, pharmacy counters, and yacht charters—lies about ten to fifteen minutes along fully paved, well-signed boulevards; the Racquet Center and equestrian complex are ten to fifteen minutes depending on the hour; and Altos de Chavón with Dye Fore rises fifteen to twenty minutes above the Río Chavón canyon for stone lanes, galleries, and golden-hour views.
For map orientation, place Casa Saman within the central residential belt near Minitas on La Romana’s south shore at approximately 18.41° N, 68.91° W. The simplest gateway is La Romana International Airport (LRM), which takes ten to fifteen minutes door to door; Punta Cana (PUJ) typically takes fifty to sixty minutes; and Santo Domingo’s Las Américas (SDQ) takes seventy-five to ninety minutes, depending on traffic. All approach roads are completely paved, and the last one to two kilometers inside the resort follow level, clearly marked lanes that are comfortable for all vehicle classes. Once you’re settled in, a golf cart makes beach, tennis, and marina hops delightfully short, and a private SUV transfer makes arrival easier.
In the end, Casa Saman’s unique, estate-sized lot, garden-wrapped seclusion, and simple indoor-outdoor layout set it apart from similar properties, creating a nature-forward haven that thrives in both the quiet of midday and the starry sky.
Play a front-nine at Teeth of the Dog and stay for a sea-view lunch at the clubhouse; explore Altos de Chavón at sunset for galleries, canyon views, and dinner on the plaza; or start the day with a swim at Minitas Beach followed by espresso at the beachfront café to fit the villa’s rhythm.
