Chalet Virmadisa
Description
Above Verbier, Chalet Virmadisa resembles a hidden balcony. Situated just above the resort and just a short distance from the Savoleyres lift, it offers you the best of both worlds: easy access to the village and slopes and the uncommon luxury of true seclusion.
The mountains open up in front of you as soon as you step onto the terrace, with ranges merging and the light changing from a gentle pink at dawn to a deep gold in the late afternoon. It’s the kind of view that causes you to stop without giving it much thought.
Chalet Virmadisa, which was built with families and friends in mind, has a main house and an adjacent mazot that can accommodate up to fourteen guests. Inside, it strikes a balance between simple, understated comforts and rustic alpine textures like wool, stone, and aged wood, so it never feels ostentatious or overdone. One of those Switzerland Chalets where you can kick off your boots and curl up by the fire without having to worry about “doing it right” is this one.
Light and space are key components of the main living floor. A stone fireplace anchors the space and creates the atmosphere for long, relaxed evenings, while floor-to-ceiling windows frame the peaks and valleys below. You can set the mood with an integrated sound system, whether it’s a quiet playlist while the snow falls outside or gentle jazz after dinner.
There is ample space for everyone to sit together, enjoy fondue, and make plans for the following day’s activities in the open-plan kitchen and dining area that flow directly from the lounge. The glass doors open to a brightly lit terrace on sunny days, extending the living area into the mountain air with a fire pit, outdoor fireplace, and second seating area. Situated just beyond, the cedarwood hot tub is ideal for soaking under the stars at the end of the day.
The chalet is thoughtfully divided into six bedrooms. The master suite, located beneath the eaves, is a private haven with expansive views, a spacious bathroom, and the unique peace and quiet that can only be found at the top of a house. Couples and friends have enough space with two double bedrooms and one twin/double, each with its own en suite.
Younger visitors will enjoy the four-berth bunk room’s carved details, comfortable movie corner, and feeling of being in their own little fort. With direct access to the hot tub and a sauna, jacuzzi bath, and rain shower on the spa level, you can transition between hot water, cold air, and heat in a few leisurely steps.
Without compromising comfort, the adjacent mazot increases flexibility. It’s perfect for grandparents, a couple seeking more privacy, or employees traveling with the family because it has its own living area, double bedroom, and bathroom. It’s not crowded, but everyone stays close.
Outside, summer and shoulder seasons are as pleasant as winter thanks to a private garden terrace and several outdoor dining areas. The chalet’s outdoor fireplaces and hot tub extend the season well into autumn, and when the snow melts, the same slopes become bike trails, walking paths, and picnic areas.
Additionally, Chalet Virmadisa is a great starting point for discovering Verbier outside the front door. In the winter, you can enter the larger Verbier–4 Vallées ski area directly from the Savoleyres lift, which is just a short walk away.
Place Centrale’s eateries, stores, and bars are usually 5 to 10 minutes away by car or local shuttle, which is close enough for an evening out but far enough to keep the chalet quiet. In the summer, e-bike routes begin practically at the village edge, and trailheads for hikes towards La Croix-de-Coeur or down to Le Châble are just a short drive away.
It’s easy to get here. Under normal circumstances, the trip to Geneva Airport typically takes two hours. If you would rather take the train, you can get from Geneva to Le Châble via Martigny in roughly 2.5–3 hours. From there, you can take a cable car or a 15–20 minute taxi ride to Verbier. The final kilometer or two to Chalet Virmadisa follows paved but usually steep alpine roads; in the winter, it is highly advised to use a 4×4 or a car equipped with winter tires and chains.
Chalet Virmadisa is unique among luxury Switzerland Chalets because it combines a separate mazot with near-instant access to Savoleyres, a full spa level, and expansive, open mountain views that feel incredibly private.
A summer morning hike towards La Croix-de-Cête followed by an afternoon barbecue and board games on the terrace; a ski day that begins with an easy glide to Savoleyres and ends with a sauna, hot tub, and dinner by the fire; and a village stroll through Verbier’s shops and cafés, ending with sunset in the cedar hot tub as the last light fades across the peaks—these three straightforward experiences are ideal for this house.
