Golf Villa V
Description
Glasses catch the last of the light from the shaded terrace at Golf Villa V, and conversation slows to match the breeze as late afternoon descends upon the fairway and the lake takes on a copper sheen.
This golf-front, lakefront haven, where palm fronds move like a metronome and every area is set up to bring you back to the horizon, is the kind of Caribbean tranquility that people imagine but seldom find. With an open living and dining area covered in glass so the view stays with you, a comfortable study that steals the same view for a leisurely call or a quiet read, and doors that slide aside to let the evening air do its silent work while dinner stretches, the indoor and outdoor spaces feel like one long room.
The villa’s signature retreat, the private king suite, is designed for restful sleep and leisurely mornings. A cedar walk-in closet allows swallows to travel; the bathroom combines an indoor double-shower tower with a garden shower open to the sky and green; and soundproof glass transforms the fairway into a painting. A few steps from the heated pool—steam rising at dusk, palms tracing slow arcs above—is a separate glass door that takes you to a small, private world that is exclusive to your group.
With cedar-lined closets, ceiling fans over cool linens, individually controlled silent air conditioning, and spa-bright bathrooms so everyone can unwind at their own pace before the next gathering, four more suites with two queen beds each reflect the same promise of seclusion and tranquility.
The heart of Golf Villa V is finished in warm oak and Calacata quartz, with stainless appliances that can handle a chef’s menu or a family brunch, for those who appreciate a kitchen that looks as good as it functions. A four-person breakfast nook serves as a convenient stop between swims, and the outdoor BBQ—two gas tanks and careful preparation—makes eating outside a simple, everyday ritual. Even the most basic moments—coffee, a book, an impromptu conversation—feel bigger than the map suggests because Wi-Fi remains reliable, music plays throughout the day, and the terrace keeps the lake and fairway in view.
Instead of being placed on top of the house’s rhythm, service is woven into it. A professional waiter or bartender maintains the cadence effortlessly, from poolside mojitos to a candlelit pour when the breeze softens, while a skilled chef translates the latitude into plates that make sense of the hour—grilled snapper and citrus, a late pastelito, a perfect breakfast egg. The best Casa de Campo villas are distinguished by their quiet, precise hospitality, which makes you feel taken care of long before you need to ask.
You don’t have to press in to get what you came for. Altos de Chavón with the Dye Fore course rises 15–20 minutes above the Río Chavón canyon for stone lanes, galleries, and a plaza dinner under soft lights; the Marina’s waterfront restaurants, provisioning, and pharmacy counters are usually 10–15 minutes along fully paved, well-signed boulevards; Minitas Beach and its serene, swimmable water are realistically 5–10 minutes by car or golf cart.
On the map, locate Golf Villa V at roughly 18.41° N, 68.91° W, along the Links-and-lake corridor on the south shore of Casa de Campo. Arrivals are easy: Punta Cana (PUJ) takes 50–60 minutes; Santo Domingo’s Las Américas (SDQ) takes 75–90 minutes, depending on traffic; La Romana International Airport (LRM) typically takes 10–15 minutes door to door. The last one to two kilometers of the resort’s roads are completely paved, with flat estate lanes that are suitable for all vehicle classes.
The simplest way to get started is with a private SUV transfer; after you’re settled in, a golf cart makes beach, spa, tennis, and marina hops delightfully brief.
The combination of a lake-lined, sunset-facing fairway view with a true spa-grade king suite (garden shower, double shower, cedar closet) and direct, private access to a heated pool in a palm-wrapped courtyard is what ultimately sets Golf Villa V apart from similar properties, creating a romantic core within a home designed to gather.
Three things to do in the area
• Swim at Minitas Beach in the morning, followed by espresso at the beachside café.
• Enjoy a sea-view clubhouse lunch and play a front-nine at Teeth of the Dog.
• At dusk, explore Altos de Chavón for dinner on the plaza, galleries, and views of the canyon.
