Italian Villa with views of Lake Como
Description
This outstanding 19th century villa Camilla Lake Como is set on five acres of private gardens with a swimming pool, a tennis court, superb lake views and, on request, a private mooring (at additional cost) at the San Siro harbor, Lake Como.
The villa faces southeast, halfway up the lake, providing a superb view of the three arms of Lake Como and the beautiful mountains across the lake. The large garden has well-kept lawns, ancient sequoias, cedars, oaks, magnolias and palms. A road runs right along the shore of Lake Como in this area, so the villa is not directly on the lake, but is directly across the road from the lake and across is the private landing. A gate and sweeping lawns lead from the lake road up to the villa.
The interior of the villa is spacious, with shining floors and a sweeping staircase connecting the floors. Villa Camilla maintains its traditional atmosphere. Each bedroom has its own modern bathroom. It sleeps 16 people; two or eventually four extra beds may be available additionally. Villa Camilla is lovely for large groups and weddings because of its size and romantic setting. It is also great for family reunions and groups of friends. All of the king beds can be separated into twins, making this villa totally flexible for couples or singles in any combination.
Villa Camilla is an ideal location for relaxing or taking day trips around the lake, into the mountains, southern Switzerland, Como or Milan. Bicycle rentals, motorboat rentals, waterskiing and pitch-and-putt are available in Menaggio, 10 minutes away. Windsurfing is available in Menaggio, Colico and Cremia. In Menaggio you can also catch a boat or hydrofoil to take you up and down the lake between Switzerland and Como, or across to Varenna or Bellagio. There are several golf courses in the area; the closest is just 20 minutes away. Horseback riding facilities nearby.

Sabrina from Haute Retreats is the best I have ever worked with when renting a villa. Honestly the best customer service experience I have had in years. I was looking for a villa to rent for my husband’s 40th birthday in Lake Como, off season. After already stating the location, I found this much more difficult than I expected, as many villas close in the off season. I had fallen in love with Villa Camilla online and to my dismay was told by other websites that it was closed—full stop. When I reached out to haute retreats I was almost at my breaking point and about to change the location of the birthday. Sabrina also told me that the villa was closed but she could help me find other options and started to send me many options that could work for me, but unfortunately they were outside of Como. At the same time she was contacting the owners of Villa Camilla to see if there was any possibility they would open, unaware to me. To my surprise, a couple days later she gave me the best news—that they would open for us! She went super above and beyond and helped me with so many other requests while transitioning to the house manager taking over. This started our journey in such good energy and it got even better and better as every single person working in the house is amazing. They house manager Lolanda was an angel, the house chef made the best lasagna I’ve ever had (and gluten free specific for me as I have an intolerance)! The staff working in the house always had a smile. Everything was really just perfect. My husband had the best birthday possible! All of the people in the house and the process of renting the house made a huge impact on making that possible. Thank you so much for making this milestone memory so special for us!! We can’t wait to come back to Villa Camilla one day :).
