Villa Chileno
Description
Villa Chileno seems to have been designed with the water’s color in mind.
This modern four-bedroom house overlooks one of the most well-known swimmable and snorkel-friendly beaches in all of Los Cabos and is situated above the protected cove of Chileno Bay on the Los Cabos Corridor. The sea shines a clear turquoise from the terrace, and a protected reef offshore is home to clouds of tropical fish and, if you’re lucky, a sea turtle’s leisurely glide.
Villa Chileno’s interior is airy, contemporary, and subtly fun. Adriana Hoyos, an interior designer, creates a polished yet laid-back atmosphere in each room by framing the view with rich textures, clean lines, and vibrant colors. With sliding doors that vanish to let in the breeze, the open-concept living, dining, and kitchen area runs along the glass front of the house.
In the evenings, you can go straight out onto the terrace without ever losing sight of the bay, relax on the sofa with a drink, or linger at the large island while someone sears fresh fish on the cooktop. For movie nights, a sizable smart TV serves as the focal point of the living room; otherwise, the theater of the sea beyond the glass takes its place.
Every one of Villa Chileno’s four bedrooms is a true suite, meaning that no visitor will feel as though they were unlucky. Each has an ensuite bathroom, a king or queen bed with luxurious linens, air conditioning, a ceiling fan, blackout shades, and a big-screen TV for leisurely mornings or late-night movies.
One of the few places where you can relax under the stars and listen to the waves crash into the cove below is the master suite, which opens onto a private terrace with an outdoor Jacuzzi. Another bedroom has a private balcony with a broad view of Chileno Bay. It’s the kind of peaceful spot where you can curl up with a book or just watch the water’s light change.
The open kitchen and living area that flows directly to the terrace is the center of daily life. With professional-grade stainless-steel appliances, ample counter space, and a central island with breakfast-bar seating for four, the kitchen is truly designed to cook in. Here, it’s easy to picture lengthy breakfasts that extend into late mornings, with plans for the day developing over coffee while gazing out to sea. Eight people can sit comfortably at the outdoor dining table just beyond the sliding doors, which is positioned so that dinner is always served with a view of the horizon line.
When you step outside, Villa Chileno transforms into a small, private version of the beach clubs that are so popular in Los Cabos Villas. With cozy loungers for the sun, covered nooks for shade, and unhindered views of the bay, the pool terrace is designed for lounging. As the last swimmers enter from the reef, you will find yourself here at dusk, watching the sky reflect in the water.
The Chileno Bay resort-style amenities, such as resort pools, a fully furnished gym, on-site dining options, and a variety of beach toys that can be rented, are also shared by guests staying at Villa Chileno. The Tom Fazio-designed golf course is still only available to members and their visitors, but if you are traveling with golfers, your concierge can help you understand the current rules.
For this area of Baja, arrival is simple and enjoyably brief. Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), located just outside of San José del Cabo, is the ideal entry point. Villa Chileno is located approximately in the center of the 32-kilometer Resort Corridor, close to the Chileno Bay turnoff at kilometer 15. From the terminal, you follow Highway 1 along the coast toward Cabo San Lucas. The drive typically takes 25 to 30 minutes in light traffic, but during peak arrival times and on holiday weekends, it can take up to 35 or even 40 minutes.
The entire route is paved: a smooth highway leads to a clearly marked turn toward Chileno Bay, and the last one to two kilometers are on well-kept resort roads with speed bumps and mild gradients instead of uneven terrain. You don’t need a 4×4 in this situation, but an SUV is handy if you’re carrying golf clubs or diving equipment. A comfortable sedan or SUV is the best option. On a map, Villa Chileno is located between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo on the Sea of Cortez side of the peninsula, roughly at coordinates 22.94° N, 109.82° W, just inland from the public Chileno Beach parking lot and cove.
Once you get there, daily logistics are simple. Depending on traffic, Cabo San Lucas, which has a marina, nightlife, pharmacies, and big supermarkets, is about a fifteen to twenty-minute drive west. A comparable distance to the east is San José del Cabo, which has restaurants, art galleries, more shopping, and healthcare. This means you can spend the night in the peace and quiet of Chileno Bay after sneaking into town for dinner, groceries, or a pharmacy run without spending half a day in the car.
Villa Chileno, one of the many Los Cabos Villas dotted along this well-known coastline, stands out for its unique combination of designer-led interiors by Adriana Hoyos, genuine walking access to one of the corridor’s most swimmable and snorkel-rich beaches, and a private home setting that taps into resort-style pools, gym, and dining while still feeling like your own modern ocean retreat.
A coastal day trip split between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo, each roughly fifteen to twenty minutes away by car, for marina strolls, shopping, galleries, and restaurants; and a late afternoon or sunset outing on the Resort Corridor, combining a round of member-hosted golf at one of the nearby championship courses with dinner at a high-end restaurant along the coast before returning to your terrace above the bay, are three simple activities you can enjoy near Villa Chileno.
