Villa Coco
Description
Villa Coco sits peacefully on the hillside, watching the day unfold high above the gentle curve of Lorient Bay, where the trade winds carry the scent of salt and frangipani.
Here, mornings start with gentle light drifting across the water, and evenings conclude with nearly unbelievable sunsets that dissolve into the ocean as the nearby islands glow in the distance. One of those St Barts villas that feels instantly intimate, as if it were made to be lived in rather than simply admired, this villa is intended for visitors who value peace, privacy, and beauty without excess.
Villa Coco, which has recently undergone a minimalist, modern renovation, embodies the elegant, carefree glamour that epitomizes St. Barths. Clean architectural lines and organic warmth are expertly balanced in the light-filled, uncluttered interiors. Soft textures, warm wood accents, and creamy neutral tones all reflect the outdoor scenery, while faint blue undertones reflect the omnipresent ocean.
With a large corner sofa and wooden coffee tables that encourage lengthy conversations or quiet times with a book, the air-conditioned living room is warm and inviting. A striking white pool table, ideal for leisurely evenings with family or friends after dinner, is an unexpected highlight that adds a playful note to the villa’s elegance just beyond.
Easily accommodating up to ten people, the open dining area flows naturally from the living area and is perfect for long, leisurely meals. Whether you like to cook yourself or would rather hire a private chef to prepare something special, the open kitchen next door is fully furnished and intended for practical use. As the day’s plans take shape, a nearby square table becomes the ideal place for breakfast, afternoon snacks, or a quick espresso. The layout of the villa is purposefully oriented toward the view, guaranteeing that the sky and sea are always visible.
Villa Coco really shines outside. The large terrace has a serene atmosphere that invites you to slow down and makes you feel as though you are suspended between the sky and the sea. The main attraction of the villa is its nautilus-shaped infinity pool, which blends in with the surrounding ocean.
It’s an area that naturally captivates you, whether you’re floating silently in the water or observing the light change across the bay from the pool’s edge. Sunbeds are perfect for reading, relaxing, or doing nothing at all because they are set up for both sun and shade. A contemporary outdoor lounge provides plenty of seating beneath the large covered patio, making it ideal for both quiet afternoons and entertaining.
A lower-level outdoor area beneath the main terrace provides an additional degree of comfort and seclusion. Here, more loungers overlook the bay, and a comfortable jacuzzi creates the ideal atmosphere for unwinding in the evening, especially when the stars start to rise. It’s a more subdued area of the villa that feels particularly calm and detached.
Each of the three air-conditioned bedrooms at Villa Coco has a view of the surrounding hills and the ocean. Each bedroom has a private bathroom and king-size beds covered in luxurious Caribbean-style fabrics. For visitors who want quick access to the center of the house, two of the bedrooms are situated on the main floor near the living areas. Situated on the lower level, the third bedroom has more space and a stronger sense of autonomy.
It creates a real suite-like experience by opening onto its own private terrace with a jacuzzi and outdoor lounge. On the same level, visitors can continue their wellness regimen without ever leaving the property thanks to a well-equipped fitness center.
Travel times and distances: On the north side of the island, Villa Coco is situated atop Lorient’s heights with a view of Lorient Bay. By car, Lorient Beach is usually 5–10 minutes away, while daily services, bakeries, and grocery stores in the Lorient and St. Jean areas are typically 5–15 minutes away, depending on traffic. Gustavia’s harbor, shopping, and dining scene can be reached in about 15 to 25 minutes, while St. Jean’s beach, shops, and airport are typically 10 to 15 minutes away. The villa’s elevated location ensures open views and cool breezes; for map orientation, look toward “Lorient Bay” and the hillside roads above the beach.
Arrival and logistics: Gustaf III Airport (SBH) in St. Jean is the nearest airport; under normal circumstances, the drive takes 10 to 20 minutes. It will take about 20 to 30 minutes for guests arriving by ferry into Gustavia to get to the villa. The last route up the Lorient hillside follows the island’s distinctive winding, narrow roads, which are usually paved but can be steep at times. For comfort and convenience, especially when negotiating parking lots and hills, a small SUV is advised.
Unique value proposition: Villa Coco is distinguished by its sculptural nautilus-shaped infinity pool, views of Lorient Bay at sunset, and a unique fusion of minimalist modern design with incredibly peaceful, private outdoor living.
