Villa Wings
Description
Villa Wings is one of those St. Barths residences where the landscape and architecture seem to have been planned together.
Perched high above Saint-Jean, it overlooks the vast ocean with a view that appears to expand throughout the day—bright turquoise in the morning, deep sapphire in the afternoon, and a gentle, glowing horizon as night falls. The villa has a distinctive silhouette and is built over three levels with wing-shaped roofs. Inside, each room is oriented to maximize the view. Villa Wings, one of the most eye-catching St Barts villas, is both a statement of design and a genuinely comfortable home.
The rhythm of the villa starts on the main level. With luxurious couches and sophisticated armchairs arranged so that conversation always takes place while facing the sea, a large, open-plan living room greets you. The tropical breeze blows through the room when the doors are open, and the sound of the island seems far away. An air-conditioned TV room is close by if you want a cooler, darker haven.
It’s ideal for quiet afternoons after a day at the beach or movie nights. The kitchen, which is anchored by a central island that effortlessly extends toward the outdoors, is fully furnished and designed for both casual cooking and private-chef service. There are two ways to enjoy meals: indoors in a comfortable, air-conditioned setting, or outdoors in an al fresco dining area where dinners are held under the stars and the sea is visible even as the light fades.
Villa Wings transforms outdoors into a two-story terrace haven that resembles a private resort perched above the water. Couches and lounge chairs are arranged for extended periods of sun, shade, and unobstructed views on both terrace levels.
The main infinity pool’s edge visually blends with the horizon, making the ocean appear even closer as it sparkles in the Caribbean light. A second shallow pool below provides a more private area for cooling off or relaxing in the water, perfect for quiet times, leisurely afternoons, or families who prefer to have a second “zone” for adults and children. You can stretch, breathe, or just sit barefoot while the breeze blows over the hillside on the nearby small lawn, which gives the design an unexpected softness.
With four air-conditioned bedrooms, each with a private bathroom and stunning views of the ocean, the villa can accommodate up to eight guests. The house is particularly cozy for two families or a group of couples because it has three bedrooms on the upper level that are accessible by two different staircases. This clever feature creates privacy between suites.
These three suites have king beds and calm, elegant furnishings that draw attention to the view. Twin beds in the fourth bedroom, which is located on the lower level close to the pool, make it ideal for kids, teens, or friends to share. No matter where you sleep, the ocean is there when you wake up, framed by light and glass.
Villa Wings has a fully furnished, air-conditioned fitness center with views of the ocean and undulating hills for visitors who prefer to maintain a routine while traveling. It’s the type of gym that truly inspires you: a quick workout followed by a swim and coffee on the pool terrace, with the remainder of the day going at island speed.
Villa Wings takes full advantage of Saint-Jean, one of the most practical bases on St. Barths. St-Jean Beach, beach clubs, shops, restaurants, and the island’s most famous beach scene are all nearby, but the villa is still high enough to feel secluded and quiet. Under normal circumstances, it takes five to ten minutes to get to St. Jean and its shops and beaches.
Depending on traffic, it typically takes ten to fifteen minutes by car to get to Gustavia, which has a harbor, designer stores, pharmacies, supermarkets, and nighttime dining. Additionally, the small island airport (SBH), which is typically ten minutes away, is close by. A small automatic rental car or hired driver is advised, especially at night, as the last 1-2 kilometers up to hillside homes in Saint-Jean are on paved but narrow, curving roads with a few steeper sections.
Villa Wings is unique among St Barts villas due to its wing-shaped architecture, unique two-level terrace concept with an infinity pool and a second shallow pool, and bedroom arrangement that offers genuine seclusion while keeping each suite facing the ocean.
A stay at Villa Wings is a perfect combination of three experiences. One day, go to St-Jean Beach for a swim in the morning and lunch at a beach club. Then, return to the villa for an afternoon spent alternating between the shallow pool on the lower terrace and the infinity pool, culminating in sunset cocktails on the upper deck.
Drive into Gustavia for a meal by the harbor and a walk past the yachts on another evening, then return to the terrace sofas to watch the stars while listening to the sound of the ocean. A third choice is a “north coast” day: travel to Colombier for a picturesque beach experience (by boat or hike), return for a workout in the gym with a view of the ocean, and end with an al fresco dinner in the trade winds as the horizon turns deep indigo.
