Villa Xanadu
Description
Villa Xanadu is the type of hillside residence in St. Jean that transforms St. Barths into a personal haven.
Located just above the bay, it offers long, open views of the sea that capture the shifting light throughout the day. It is soft and golden at sunset, bright and sparkling in the morning, and subtly dramatic at night when the coastline starts to glow. Villa Xanadu stands out among St Barts villas for visitors seeking space, seclusion, and easy access to the island’s top beaches, restaurants, and shops. It features lush gardens, spacious outdoor living, and a layout that promotes effortless togetherness.
The villa has a serene, inviting atmosphere from the moment you arrive. The property is surrounded by tropical vegetation, which creates a feeling of seclusion without obstructing the view. The design, which includes lovely furniture, light-filled interiors, and cozy areas that invite you to slow down, strikes a balance between polished and casual. At Villa Xanadu, mornings usually begin outside.
With coffee in hand, the pool shimmering close by, and the sea beyond the hills, the terrace becomes your daily ritual. Whether you’re watching the sunrise, reading in the shade, or relaxing with a drink as the sky starts to change color, it’s simple to stay put thanks to the large sunbeds and deep lounge seating.
Villa Xanadu’s two-building layout, which is connected by a lovely courtyard that serves as a private outdoor living area, is one of its most alluring features. This courtyard is more than just a passageway; it’s a spot to congregate, stop, lounge on a sunbed, and take in the warm St. Barths air in total seclusion. Because it provides shared areas when needed and separation when desired, the arrangement is perfect for gatherings.
One building has a fully functional kitchen that is open to the terrace, making cooking feel social rather than private. It flows organically into a sizable outdoor dining area that serves as the focal point of group meals, including breakfasts that become late mornings, lengthy lunches in between beach excursions, and dinners outside under the stars if you decide to stay inside.
An additional layer of comfort is provided by a nearby outdoor lounge area, which is ideal for an aperitivo before going into town. Even the most basic meal feels elevated by the setting because everything is arranged to maintain the view.
The large living room and entertainment spaces are located in the second building, which opens to a cool, shaded veranda even on hot afternoons. Before going back outside, this is where you go for a movie night, a peaceful chat, or a little air-conditioned comfort. There is enough room for everyone to congregate without ever feeling crowded, and the interior design is elegant and welcoming rather than formal.
Up to eight people can stay in Villa Xanadu’s four suites. With a king-size bed and private access to the terrace, the master bedroom is remarkably roomy, allowing you to slip out for a peaceful sunset or an early swim whenever you’d like. With king-size beds and stunning views of the sea, the other three bedrooms provide each visitor with a “wake up to the island” experience. With thoughtful finishes, cozy bedding, and a layout that makes sharing a villa seem effortless and elegant, each suite is intended to be a private haven.
Here, location is a big plus. Villa Xanadu puts you close to everything without compromising peace and quiet, and St. Jean is the island’s liveliest center. The best beach clubs, shops, and cafés on the island are usually only five to ten minutes away by car from St. Jean’s beaches.
Depending on traffic, it typically takes 10 to 15 minutes to get to Gustavia, which has a harbor, designer stores, supermarkets, pharmacies, and nightlife. St. Jean, the island’s small airport, is also close by, usually within ten minutes. A small automatic rental car is perfect, and private transfers are easily arranged if you would rather not drive after dinner. The roads in St. Barths are paved but narrow, and the last 1-2 kilometers up to hillside villas include bends and a few steeper sections.
Villa Xanadu is unique among St Barts villas because of its two-building layout connected by a private courtyard, which creates a true “villa compound” feel with spacious outdoor living, a view-focused pool terrace, and an ideal St. Jean location near beaches, restaurants, and shopping.
A stay at Villa Xanadu is a perfect combination of three experiences. Take a sunrise swim at St. Jean Beach one day, spend lunch at a beach club, and then head back to the villa for an afternoon by the pool and sunset cocktails on the terrace. Drive into Gustavia for a meal by the harbor and a walk past the yachts on another evening, then return home for a quiet time in the courtyard and a late-night swim. An island adventure day is a third choice. Plan a snorkeling or private boat trip, then come back for a casual al fresco dinner at the long terrace table while the view of the sea turns indigo.
