It seems as though Casa Fly is hovering over the Aegean.

This large villa, which is situated high in the desirable Fanari neighborhood on the northwest side of Mykonos, has a direct view of the surrounding islands and the sea, with the island’s renowned long, slow sunsets taking place in front of you. Casa Fly’s social life naturally takes place at the pool level. Bringing in a private chef or preparing a straightforward Greek breakfast with fresh fruit, yogurt, and honey from the island’s markets is made simple with a fully functional kitchen.

Whether you’re sitting on the couches inside or on a sunbed outside, the open-plan lounge and living area flows straight toward the pool terrace through large glass doors. Three separate guest bedrooms with separate bathrooms open directly onto the terrace on this level. For friends or older kids who like to come and go without bothering anyone else, it’s a great setup. With the sea in front of you as inspiration, you can work out before your first swim in a small gym space.

The pool terrace outside is a true Mykonos. With loungers and shaded seating areas positioned to catch the sun and breeze, an infinity-style pool directs your gaze to the Aegean. A book, a nap, background music, someone floating in and out of the water—this is where afternoons tend to vanish. The terrace becomes a comfortable place to entertain as the light fades.

Additionally, Casa Fly is a great starting point for island exploration. With its maze of whitewashed streets, shops, bars, and sunset spots, Mykonos Town (Chora) is typically ten to fifteen minutes away from Fanari in typical traffic. A cocktail and a stroll in the Old Port and Little Venice neighborhood are ideal as the sun sets. Arrivals and departures by sea are very simple because the new port area at Tourlos, where many ferries arrive, is even closer—usually 5 to 10 minutes by car.

Depending on the time of day, it usually takes 15 to 20 minutes to drive from the villa to Mykonos Airport (JMK), which is located on the other side of town. Fanari’s roads are paved, but like most of Mykonos, they can get narrow and winding near the top. Therefore, it’s best to have a comfortable automatic car or a prearranged driver, especially at night or during peak season.

Any trip to Mykonos must include a beach, and Casa Fly places some of the best beaches on the island conveniently accessible by car. The closest are the family-friendly, more sheltered beaches of Agios Stefanos and the stretch toward Houlakia, which are ideal for a leisurely lunch and a quick swim.

These beaches are typically about ten minutes away by car. Depending on traffic and time of day, Psarou, Ornos, and Platis Gialos, with their renowned beach clubs and restaurants, are about 20 to 30 minutes away by car if you’re in the mood for the entire “classic Mykonos” scene. Although a little farther away, Elia and Kalo Livadi on the south coast are still very accessible for a day trip.

One is a town evening: drive 10 to 15 minutes into Mykonos Town right before dusk, meander through Chora’s alleyways, grab a drink in Little Venice as the sun sets behind the windmills, eat dinner in one of the town’s hidden courtyards, and then return to the serene Fanari as the nightlife begins below.

Another is a beach-and-boat day: spend a few hours at a beach on the south coast, such as Ornos or Psarou, then take a quick boat ride to neighboring coves or even the Delos archaeological site. Return to Casa Fly in time for a peaceful sunset by the pool. A third is your “stay local” day. Enjoy breakfast on the terrace, take a stroll along Fanari’s peaceful streets to take in the scenery, spend the afternoon alternating between the gym and the pool, and end the day with a private chef dinner outside under the stars while the lights of far-off islands flicker on the horizon.
