Salty View Villa
Description
It seems as though Salty View Villa was positioned on the edge of the Aegean specifically to observe the change of light.
Nestled in the upscale neighborhood of Aleomandra on the southwest coast of Mykonos, it faces the holy islands of Delos and Rhenia, with sunsets that gradually fade into the distance every night. It’s that quintessential Cycladic fantasy: whitewashed buildings, an endless expanse of blue in front of you, and a sufficient distance from the throng to truly hear the sea.
Salty View Villa, which has three floors, is ideal for accommodating up to eight people. A tranquil double bedroom with an attached bathroom and expansive views of the sea sits like a lookout over the water on the upper level, making mornings seem almost surreal. The warmth of the day rising over the Aegean can be felt as soon as you pull back the curtains and step outside.
The house first welcomes you and extends an invitation to stay on the entrance level. An open-plan kitchen designed for everyday life—easy breakfasts, basic mezze plates, or a private chef dinner when you feel like being pampered—flows from a chic lounge area with soft hues and simple lines. Another double bedroom with an en suite bathroom on this level is perfect for guests who prefer to be near the main living areas, and a guest WC keeps things practical. Large openings lead you out toward the terraces, where you can always see the sea.
The atmosphere becomes even more relaxed on the pool level below. When you want to swim, you’re just a short distance from the water thanks to the two extra double bedrooms that open directly onto the outdoor areas and each have a separate bathroom. During the heat of the day, a second lounge area on this level becomes a natural haven—somewhere to curl up with a book, nap in between dips, or let the kids relax while the adults stay upstairs for lunch.
Salty View Villa truly lives up to its name outside. The sunsets are genuinely difficult to overstate, and every outdoor space has been oriented to capture those expansive, west-facing sea views. Located in the center of the terrace, the private pool’s surface reflects the hues of the sky throughout the day.
You can follow the light or the shade as you choose thanks to the arrangement of sun loungers and cushioned seating. Evenings begin at the outdoor dining table with a straightforward Greek salad, grilled fish, a bottle of regional wine, and the sun slowly setting over the water in front of you. You remember why people fell in love with Mykonos in the first place by the time the sky turns a deep orange and the islands of Delos and Rhenia are silhouetted.
Salty View Villa is a great place to explore the island, even though it feels incredibly private. Depending on traffic and time of day, Mykonos Town (Chora), with its maze of whitewashed streets, shops, bars, and the famous windmills, is typically ten to fifteen minutes away by car from Aleomandra. Ornos and Agios Ioannis’ restaurants and beaches are even closer—typically 5 to 10 minutes by car—making them ideal for leisurely evenings out, long lunches, or impromptu swims.
Mykonos Airport (JMK) and the main port at Tourlos are typically 15 to 20 minutes away by car. The last kilometer to the villa is on paved roads that are usually narrow and slightly winding, typical of this side of the island; a comfortable automatic car or a prearranged transfer is advised, especially at night or during high season.
Salty View Villa is unique among luxury Mykonos Villas because of its Aleomandra location facing Delos and Rhenia, where each bedroom has en suite privacy and each terrace has front-row sunset views without compromising convenient access to Ornos, Agios Ioannis, and Mykonos Town.
A stay here is a perfect combination of three experiences. Take a leisurely stroll through Chora in Mykonos Town one afternoon, then come back in time to enjoy a glass of wine while watching the sky change from your pool. On a different day, reserve a small private boat from nearby Ornos to explore Delos and Rhenia.
Spend the morning learning about history and the afternoon swimming in secret coves before returning to the terrace for a simple dinner. Keep things local and leisurely on the third day: have breakfast outside, go swimming at Agios Ioannis or Ornos, which are only ten minutes away, and spend a long, leisurely evening at the al fresco table as the sun sets over the Aegean.
