Villa Martangie
Description
Coffee tastes slower at Villa Martangie because of the quiet of Reeds Bay, which is just beyond your terrace.
Located between Holetown and Speightstown on the platinum coast, this four-bedroom beachfront home is beautifully decorated with coral stone and cool island textures, making the interior feel as effortless as the beach. Because Villa Martangie allows for both relaxed seclusion and effortless togetherness, you can choose the rhythm of the day, whether it’s family time that veers between sandcastle missions and poolside games or a friends’ getaway that alternates between reef snorkeling and lengthy, hearty dinners under the stars.
The design encourages lingering. When a match or movie calls everyone to the sofa, there are two spacious lounges that cater to different moods: a calm reading area with trade winds flowing through the shutters, and a laid-back media salon with a Smart TV and Sonos. Every meal becomes an outdoor ritual as you are drawn outside through French doors to the sea-facing terrace and a coral-stone portico. Employees work in the background to keep the house running smoothly; tables are arranged for optimal light, towels are always where you expect them to be, and ice is brought in right before the sun sets.
Both suites on the ocean wake up to that Caribbean blue upstairs. The main bedroom has a king bed and a comfortable sitting area, and the early sun warms your own private patio as soon as you open the doors. The routine is straightforward: go for a breakfast in your bare feet, swim across the white sand in the bay, and then let the day unfold itself.
You can snorkel right from the beach when the water is calm, see turtles surface in the afternoon, and head back to your pool for a refreshing float while dinner preparations get underway because a reef curls along this section of the shore. Before the first stars appear, you can enjoy a cocktail on the terrace while watching the sea turn to molten gold as the west coast sky does what it does best as evening draws in.
Orientation is simple and useful. Villa Martangie is located on the beach at Reeds Bay in St. James, on the west coast, at approximately 13.202° N, -59.639° W. Depending on traffic and arrival time, the drive to Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI) typically takes 35 to 45 minutes. The approach is fully paved and clearly marked along Highway 2A before you drop to the coast road for the last few kilometers, where a standard sedan or small SUV is best.
From beach-chic lunch spots near Mullins to Holetown’s dinner scene, the coast is lined with casual and fine-casual restaurants within 5 to 15 minutes in either direction. Massy Supermarket Holetown is located along Highway 1 and runs roughly 8 to 10 minutes north-south. Pharmacies and ATMs are grouped in the same Holetown window. While the historic streets of Speightstown are about 10 to 12 minutes to the north and offer galleries and a slower island tempo, Folkestone Marine Park is about 7 to 10 minutes away and offers snorkel-friendly water and a basic beachfront playground.
When you reserve a private transfer in advance from BGI, the arrival process goes smoothly; drivers are familiar with the coast road and can stop for bottled water and necessities before dropping you off. Enjoy free on-site parking and drive carefully on narrow coastal lanes if you’re driving alone. Most daily dinners and errands are a quick hop along the coast once you’re settled in, and many visitors gladly spend whole days there without ever leaving the Reeds Bay envelope.
Consider this straightforward trip if you prefer a loose itinerary: snorkel the reef at Folkestone in the morning when visibility is at its best, stay for a barefoot lunch at a beach restaurant on the west coast, then set sail for a sunset catamaran at Holetown before heading back to your terrace for nightcaps and stargazing.
Villa Martangie is unique because of its private steps from the terrace to the sand, its true walk-out location on Reeds Bay, its two suites upstairs with views of the ocean, and its exquisite coral-stone dining portico, which acts as a stage for every sunset.
