Villa Sandcastle El Encanto is situated on an elevated lot in this safe, gated beachfront community outside of San José del Cabo, with views of rooftops, palm trees, and a broad expanse of glistening blue water. For a small daily fee, guests can also use the neighboring beach club, which provides resort-style amenities without the crowds, including an oceanfront pool, loungers, a small restaurant and bar, and a fitness center. The villa comes with an electric golf cart, which makes it simple to move between the house, the beach club, and other community facilities without ever starting a car.
Arriving is a delightfully simple process. Los Cabos International Airport (SJD), which is close to San José del Cabo, serves as the primary entry point. It takes about 30 to 35 minutes to drive from the airport to Villa Sandcastle in light traffic; during peak arrival times and holidays, it can take up to 40 minutes. After that, you turn off toward Puerto Los Cabos and El Encanto on Highway 1. A comfortable sedan or SUV is best; a 4×4 is not necessary here, but an SUV can be useful for luggage, surfboards, or golf clubs.
The entire route is paved and well-marked, and the last one to two kilometers wind through landscaped resort and residential roads that are smooth but scattered with speed bumps. On a map, Villa Sandcastle is located close to the beachfront arc of La Laguna, east of Puerto Los Cabos Marina on the Sea of Cortez. Its approximate coordinates are 23.07° N, 109.63° W, which any driver or navigation app will identify as the El Encanto area.
Once you are settled, day-to-day logistics are easy. The villa is usually ten minutes away from Puerto Los Cabos Marina, which offers sailing trips, fishing charters, and a few restaurants. Depending on traffic and time of day, the Art District, pharmacies, banks, supermarkets, and a variety of eateries and cafés are all located in San José del Cabo’s historic center, which is typically fifteen minutes away by car.
When you decide it’s time to shop, you can return to the terrace with a fully stocked kitchen in less than an hour thanks to the proximity of larger grocery stores like La Comer and Chedraui Selecto. About 35 to 40 minutes’ drive west, Cabo San Lucas, with its busier marina, nightlife, and more dining options, is an easy day or evening excursion rather than a continual temptation.
A whale-watching or fishing excursion from Puerto Los Cabos Marina, which is about ten minutes away by car; a farm-to-table lunch or dinner at famous locations like Flora Farms or Acre, which is about twenty to twenty-five minutes’ drive inland from the villa; and an evening in downtown San José del Cabo, which is about fifteen minutes away, for the Art Walk on Thursday nights during the season, gallery browsing, local dining, and a leisurely stroll through the historic plaza before heading back to your El Encanto retreat.
