Villa Stellae
Description
The silence at Villa Stellae is the first thing you notice.
The house opens to the horizon as if it had been waiting for you, the palms whisper above the terrace, and the hills of Lorient fade away to a band of electric blue. It’s simple to understand why groups keep coming back year after year: the villa is roomy without being ostentatious, fashionable without being overly so, and—above all—carefully planned to allow twelve people to live together without any problems.
The view takes over as soon as you enter through the front door. Clean lines and comfort are the hallmarks of the main living pavilion, which features eye-catching white sofas and armchairs arranged in front of floor-to-ceiling windows while the ocean plays in the background. With a round breakfast table for six and a bar window that overlooks the covered terrace, the open kitchen is part of the same communal area, making it ideal for both chef-prepared dinners and snack raids. Coffee and trade winds greet the mornings here, and by late afternoon, when the sun is slanting toward the sea, the room is illuminated.
Villa Stellae truly shines outside. With its luxurious couches and glass coffee tables, the covered lounge frames the view and is the ideal spot for leisurely conversations and toasts during the golden hour. The ten-person outdoor dining table next to it makes it easy to set up dinners outside and allows for breezy long lunches. A striking red grand piano against that endless blue is the final detail that everyone remembers. As soon as the first stars appear and the sky turns peach, someone will unavoidably sit down to play.
The tempo slows down once more when you drop to the lower deck. A long, heated pool runs the length of the terrace, bordered by loungers and umbrellas (one even cradles a deep, cushioned sofa for post-swim naps). A pool table at the far end gives leisurely afternoons a playful touch. A private outdoor massage area allows you to turn recuperation into a ritual, while hammocks are shaded by palm trees and ideal for reading or lounging. After a day in the sun, hot shoulders can be cooled in this small, rustic, plunge-style pool nestled among stones.
Villa Stellae’s layout accommodates everyone’s rhythm, making it easy to fall asleep. All six of the villa’s bedrooms have king beds and private bathrooms, and each one opens to a terrace with views of the garden or the ocean:
The three suites on the main level all open out to the outdoors for that bed-to-view moment at dawn; one suite has a private jacuzzi on the terrace, which is a peaceful place to soak late at night.
Lower level (1 suite): Located close to the fitness center and accessible by an outdoor stairway, this suite is perfect for early risers or anyone who needs a little more privacy.
Freestanding, extremely private, and surrounded by tropical greenery, garden bungalows (2 suites) are ideal for grandparents, a couple looking for peace and quiet, or friends with different schedules.
The design is contemporary and calming throughout, with high ceilings, natural textures, soft concrete floors, and a coastal color scheme that never overpowers the view. Blackout treatments keep mornings mild unless you want to let the day in; there is ample storage; and the climate control is whisper-quiet.
Together, you’ll adore Villa Stellae’s presence-oriented design. The pool flows to areas of play and shade, the covered terrace flows to the pool, and the indoor lounge flows to the terrace. The red piano becomes the unofficial sign that evening has arrived, and the table for ten turns into a nightly ritual complete with vibrant salads, fresh fish, and a bottle taken from the kitchen bar’s refrigerator window. The fitness center downstairs helps you stick to your routine when you want to move, and there’s always a hammock swinging in the palm breeze when you want to relax.
Location is also important. The villa, which is located in Lorient, is close to the island’s practical delights, such as bakeries, a market, and the serene shallows and surf breaks of Lorient Beach. However, it is elevated enough to offer expansive views of the ocean and sunsets, as well as the seclusion that makes a vacation feel like a complete reset. You can reach St-Jean and Gustavia with short drives; returning “home” means entering a world of peace, light, and open space.
