Villa Virginia
Description
The jungle instantly becomes quiet as soon as you enter Villa Virginia.
The green canopy and early light are drawn in by the double-height ceilings, and each room has a serene, leisurely rhythm thanks to an honest, clean aesthetic. With the kitchen, dining area, and living room all arranged along glass doors that open to a central patio, the ground floor is one continuous space where cooking, conversation, and the sound of falling leaves all coexist.
The living area maintains natural tones and tactile textures so that the courtyard feels like its fourth wall, while the kitchen’s long island faces the table to make preparation a part of the evening. By late afternoon, the patio is shaded, and the house is transformed into a gallery of gentle reflections, with warm wood, polished concrete, and glass-mirrored plants.
The second level, which has four spacious bedrooms intended for genuine rest, is accessed via an open staircase. The other suites are purposefully minimalist, exquisitely furnished, and completely en-suite, providing each visitor privacy and a place to unwind. Two master suites read like peaceful havens, each with a private soaking tub and shower so morning routines never clash.
Air conditioning is a choice rather than a need because storage is taken into account, linens are clean, and cross-breezes are present. The horizon expands as you ascend once more to the rooftop, where a ten-meter pool runs the length of the lounge and Tulum’s tree line stretches in all directions. The grill bar serves as the focal point for informal dinners, the views provide a peaceful backdrop for the evening, and it’s a convenient location for late breakfasts, golden-hour grilling, and stargazing swims.
The villa’s silent superpower is its location. Villa Virginia is located in La Privada, a gated community of single-family residences in Tulum’s most established neighborhood, Aldea Zama. That places you precisely between the beach and the pueblo: far enough to sleep to the sounds of the jungle rather than the bustle of the nightlife, yet close enough to enjoy tacos downtown or the hotel zone’s restaurant row in five minutes. The villa is located close to 20.197° N, −87.449° W. Tulum International (TQO) is usually 35 to 50 minutes by car, depending on the time of day and the weather, while Cancún International (CUN) is 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours 15 minutes in normal traffic.
If you plan bearings like this, logistics will be easy. The final one to two kilometers inside Aldea Zama wind through quiet residential lanes with speed bumps and the occasional cobblestone; any standard sedan or midsize SUV is ideal. The roads are completely paved from both airports.
Gran Cenote or Cenote Calavera is typically 10 to 15 minutes away by car, Tulum Archaeological Zone is 12 to 18 minutes, beach gates are 8 to 12 minutes depending on hotel-zone traffic, and grocery stores and pharmacies in Tulum Pueblo (Chedraui, Super Aki, San Francisco de Asís) are typically 6 to 12 minutes away. A prearranged transfer goes well with a brief provisioning stop on the inbound route, and parking at the villa is simple if you’d prefer to arrive hands-free.
At Villa Virginia, the days fall into a straightforward rhythm: mornings spent in the courtyard barefoot before taking a dip in the rooftop pool; afternoons when the living room opens fully and the house transforms into a shaded pavilion; and evenings that alternate between grill and lounge as the treetops turn indigo.
The design makes time feel elastic, tunes you in to the weather, and eliminates noise—all of which are essential components of Tulum living. You’re ten minutes from beach clubs and leisurely lunches in the salt air, five minutes from town for coffee, mezcal, or a gallery walk, and close enough to come back for a late swim and the kind of sleep that only the jungle can provide.
An early float through Gran Cenote before the crowds, a bike-to-brunch loop through Aldea Zama and down to the hotel zone for a beach walk, and a sunset visit to the Tulum Ruins followed by tacos in Pueblo and a rooftop night swim back at the villa are three simple pleasures that can be included in your first itinerary to keep it light and local.
A 10-meter rooftop pool with grill bar that transforms the entire third level into a private club above the treeline, four fully en-suite bedrooms that can accommodate up to ten people, and a double-height social space centered around a central patio are what set Villa Virginia apart from other Aldea Zama residences.
