Vista Villa
Description
Vista Villa has the atmosphere of a tiny, exclusive resort perched above Mykonos Town.
Situated in the hills of Agia Sofia, it overlooks the sea and the lights of Chora, providing you with the ideal Mykonos balance: it’s close enough to go into town for dinner or cocktails in a matter of minutes, but it’s far enough that when you return home, the only sounds you’ll hear are cicadas, your preferred music, and the occasional boat sailing across the bay. It’s one of the most alluring Mykonos Villas in this area of the island for visitors seeking space, views, and easy access to everything the island has to offer.
The Main Villa has full use of the property and can accommodate up to eighteen people. With nine bedrooms spread over three levels (ground floor, lower ground floor, and first floor), Vista Villa ensures that every member of a large group has a suitable room rather than a compromise.
For multigenerational families or groups of friends traveling together, the arrangement is ideal: some bedrooms are tucked away slightly to allow early risers and night owls to coexist peacefully, while others are closer to the main living areas for those who prefer to be in the center of things. Thick walls and cool floors create the distinct Cycladic feeling of slipping into shade after a day in the sun, while large windows and soft, neutral colors keep the interiors light and airy.
The villa is quite impressive from the outside. The focal point is a massive infinity pool with a diving board that is positioned so that you can see the Aegean and the coastline’s curve directly from the water. Terraces surround it in tiers of loungers, daybeds, shaded couches, and small nooks where you can curl up with a drink or a book.
A projector-equipped outdoor TV theater turns evenings into movies under the stars, making it ideal for late-night screenings after returning from town or for kids’ movie nights. When you want a respite from the energy of the pool, a promenade garden and a hammock strung in a quiet corner provide softer, slower places to stroll and relax. A fully lit tennis court allows matches to continue into the cooler hours of the evening.
At Vista Villa, people usually follow the light. Mornings begin slowly: a swim before the heat rises, coffee on a shaded terrace, or perhaps a game of tennis before breakfast. Midday is for long, leisurely days by the pool, with some visitors lounging on luxurious loungers and others sleeping on outdoor loveseats or in the shade beneath pergolas.
With dinner served al fresco at one of the outdoor tables, an aperitivo on the terrace while Mykonos Town starts to twinkle below, and the option to watch a movie on the projector, another set on the tennis court, or just relax and take in the night sky, the villa transforms into its evening personality as the sun sets.
Because of Agia Sofia’s location, you can explore without having to take long drives. Depending on where you park and the time of day, a typical drive from the villa to Mykonos Town takes five to ten minutes in normal traffic. Ferry arrivals and departures are very simple because the main port at Tourlos is even closer—typically about five minutes by car. Mykonos Airport (JMK) is typically 15 to 20 minutes away by car, with slightly longer transfer times during peak travel times.
While popular south-coast beaches like Ornos, Psarou, and Platis Gialos are typically 20 to 25 minutes away by car, depending on traffic and time of day, Agios Stefanos Beach can be reached from the villa in about ten minutes. The last kilometer up to Vista Villa is along the typical Mykonos hill roads, which are narrow, winding, and sometimes steep despite being fully paved. It is advised to have a comfortable SUV or a prearranged driver, particularly at night or if you are unfamiliar with island roads.
Vista Villa is unique among large-capacity Mykonos Villas because it has nine bedrooms for eighteen guests, a large infinity pool with a diving board, a full-size floodlit tennis court, and an outdoor movie theater. All of these amenities are conveniently located just a short drive from Mykonos Town, yet it still feels secluded and away from the tourists.
A stay here is ideal for three experiences. One evening, you could go to Chora for a stroll through the lanes at sunset and eat dinner by the sea in Little Venice before coming back home to watch a movie by the pool under the stars. On a different day, spend the morning visiting beaches along the south coast, such as Ornos for breakfast and a swim, Psarou or Paraga for lunch and people-watching, and then return to Vista Villa for a late-night swim and sunset tennis.
Stay close on a more sedate day: a leisurely stroll through the promenade garden at golden hour, a long morning by the pool, an afternoon game on the court, and a straightforward grilled dinner consumed barefoot beneath the pergola while the town lights shimmer below.
