Le Cheval
Description
With horse hooves in the distance, a warm breeze blowing across the fields, and Le Cheval opening in crisp, colorful lines to frame the scene, the tempo slows down as you follow the road lined with palm trees toward the polo grounds.
This four-bedroom, two-story retreat was designed for those who value both modern comfort and outdoor living. An expansive living and dining pavilion on the ground floor is pulled directly onto the terrace by folding glass walls, allowing breakfast to slip into the garden without anyone having to make the decision to move. A fully furnished kitchen with sleek appliances, ample prep space, and clever storage makes a private-chef dinner as simple as pancakes before an early beach swim.
The sun shines on Coralina stone, and a comfortable TV room is just a step away for movie nights and siestas. The level is finished with a roomy guest suite with two queen beds, perfect for traveling with friends or multiple generations.
The house leans into its surroundings outside. The pool retains morning light and maintains a pleasant warmth after sunset; the barbecue station transforms afternoons into long, leisurely meals in the breeze; and a lush, lawn-ringed garden softens the architecture and draws you toward the water. Everyone congregates around a picnic table beneath two large shade trees, whether it’s for cards after a swim, a barefoot lunch, or a starlit spread when the fields quiet down and the air is filled with the scent of grass and sea.
Three exquisitely designed suites upstairs, each with a private bathroom and whisper-quiet air conditioning, are designed for true relaxation. With a king bed, a walk-in closet, and two showers with an alfresco option—warm stone underfoot, treetops overhead, and the soft sound of evening as a soundtrack—the master is a haven of light and linen.
The second bedroom (queen bed) shares a private terrace, which is ideal for first coffees and farewell talks. The third bedroom, which also has a king, maintains the same promise of privacy and space. Le Cheval maintains its easy Caribbean rhythm while embracing colorful artwork and premium finishes throughout—exactly the harmony that discriminating tourists look for in the best Casa de Campo villas.
The villa’s surroundings are everything you came for, both close enough to feel impulsive and far enough away to keep the silence when you get back. Calm, swimmable, and equipped with a beachside café, Minitas Beach is a reasonable five-minute drive or roughly three to five minutes by golf cart.
The restaurants, provisioning, pharmacy counters, and yacht charters at Casa de Campo Marina are located approximately 10 to 15 minutes away along fully paved, clearly marked boulevards, while the Teeth of the Dog clubhouse and spa are usually located in the 5 to 10 minute band. When golden hour demands stone lanes, galleries, and a terrace dinner over the river, Altos de Chavón with the Dye Fore course rises 15–20 minutes above the Río Chavón canyon.
The Racquet Center and equestrian complex are typically 10–15 minutes away, depending on the hour. For map orientation, locate Le Cheval at roughly 18.41° N, 68.91° W, in the polo-side residential belt on the south shore of La Romana.
Logistics and arrival are straightforward and truthful. Door-to-door travel times are typically 10–15 minutes for La Romana International Airport (LRM), 50–60 minutes for Punta Cana International (PUJ), and 75–90 minutes, depending on traffic, for Santo Domingo’s Las Américas (SDQ). From all airports to the resort gates, the roads are completely paved; the final one to two kilometers inside the community are flat, clearly marked estate lanes that are suitable for all vehicle classes. The simplest way to get started is with a private SUV transfer, and once you’re settled in, a golf cart will make beach, polo, tennis, and marina hops delightfully short.
The long, open sweep across Casa de Campo’s polo fields, a living panorama that changes from morning workouts to sunset stillness while you float between pool and terrace, is Le Cheval’s greatest luxury. With calm bedrooms, a chef-ready kitchen, indoor-outdoor rooms that breathe with the breeze, and a setting that keeps the best of the resort at your fingertips without ever pulling at your sleeve, it’s a modern home with a big heart.
Le Cheval is distinguished by its unique front-row view of the polo fields, a master suite with a shared terrace and outdoor shower, and a bright, fold-away façade that unifies the ground floor into a single, seamless garden pavilion.
