Casa Carreta
Description
Your Los Cabos getaway seems to start at Casa Carreta.
With front-row views of Land’s End and its famous arch, this Hacienda-style villa is situated next to the Esperanza Beach Club on the shores of the ultra-exclusive Punta Ballena. The ocean appears unbelievably close from the terrace; during the winter, whales pass by so frequently that they become a part of the house’s everyday routine.
After passing through Punta Ballena’s gates, you travel along a serene, paved path that gently curves toward the ocean. The final section is well-maintained and smooth, making it more appropriate for a cozy sedan or SUV than a low-slung sports car.
Casa Carreta’s dramatic staircase and two-story great room with stone columns, Baja light, and expansive views of the water are visible when the front door opens. The villa can accommodate a family group as well as a fully staffed, catered stay because the main level flows into a fully furnished chef’s kitchen, bar, and spacious laundry and pantry areas.
With six bedrooms and eight bathrooms, Casa Carreta can accommodate up to twelve people, but it never feels crowded. With king beds, spacious walk-in closets, and private terraces overlooking the sea, each of the four bedrooms is a true master suite, meaning that neither comfort nor view must be sacrificed.
For guests who want a little independence, the separate casita offers an additional king suite with its own kitchenette and bathroom, while the fifth bedroom with extra-long twin beds is ideal for kids or friends sharing. It’s simple to settle in for more than just a long weekend thanks to high-quality mattresses, blackout shades, quiet air conditioning, ceiling fans, and thoughtful extras like smart TVs and safes in key suites.
The villa’s expansive outdoor terrace has the atmosphere of a private beach club. In addition to having a swim-up bar where afternoon margaritas and fresh ceviche become a ritual, the infinity-edge pool follows the horizon. Adjacent to it, cushioned loungers and a shaded palapa provide shade from the sun, while a hot tub captures the final warm rays of the day.
As night falls and the lights of Cabo San Lucas start to shimmer in the distance, the fire pit serves as a natural meeting place. You can hear the waves crashing against the rocky shore below. Early risers can claim the beach for sunrise walks without having to drive anywhere because a staircase descends to a private area of sand that is only shared by a few neighbors.
While the adults linger over dinner, children can disappear with a movie in the dedicated media room indoors, which has a large sectional sofa. Water purification, sound systems, and high-speed Wi-Fi make the house feel as useful as it is lovely. The Punta Ballena Beach Club is practically an extension of your backyard when you want more energy.
In addition to the renowned dining at neighboring Esperanza Resort, which includes Cocina del Mar perched above the breaking waves, guests of Casa Carreta have access to its oceanfront pool, spa, fitness center, tennis courts, and laid-back restaurant and bar.
For a villa of this caliber, logistics are surprisingly simple. Los Cabos International Airport (SJD) is the primary entry point; in light traffic, it takes about 35 to 40 minutes by car; during peak hours or on major holidays, it takes closer to 45 to 50 minutes. Even closer to Punta Ballena is the smaller Cabo San Lucas airport for private aviation. After you settle into Casa Carreta, it will take you about ten to fifteen minutes to get to Cabo San Lucas Marina and downtown, which is home to pharmacies, supermarkets, big-box stores, and a variety of eateries and bars.
Medano Beach and Cabo San Lucas Bay can be reached by car in less than fifteen minutes, depending on traffic, while Cabo del Sol Golf is approximately five minutes away. The villa is conveniently located near GPS coordinates 22.89°N, 109.91°W on any map or navigation app, just outside Cabo San Lucas along the Los Cabos Corridor.
A warm, Hacienda-style home that feels truly lived in rather than staged, Casa Carreta stands out among the many Los Cabos Villas along this stretch of coast for its unique combination of direct oceanfront setting, immediate access to Punta Ballena and Esperanza beach club amenities, and cinematic, unhindered views of Land’s End and the arch.
A round of golf at nearby Cabo del Sol or one of the other championship courses scattered along the Corridor (about a five- to ten-minute drive), a farm-to-table lunch or dinner at the renowned Flora Farms or Acre outside San José del Cabo (usually a forty- to fifty-minute drive along the scenic highway depending on time of day and traffic), and a private yacht or sailing trip from Cabo San Lucas Marina to circle Land’s End and stop for snorkeling at Santa Maria or Chileno Bay.
