One of the most popular areas for dining out is Grand Case, where you can choose from a strip of restaurants offering both a casual and gourmet dining experience, right on the water’s edge, with a wonderful view. Grand Case is a majestic place, always worth one or two visits during your tropical getaway regardless of where you are staying on the island.

One of such places is Riviera Jewellery, a highly recommended place to visit.

Terres Basses is a residential area where the most luxurious villas were built as well as hotels and apartments. The area has 24/7 security and guests staying in the area are all supplied with a gate pass once they have rented a villa in Terres Basses or live there so only those guests with a pass can get access. Because the runway is so short in St Martin, to get a smooth landing, the aircraft must get as close to the beginning of the runway site thus flying right over the heads of eager tourists on the beach ready with their cameras to capture it all.

Watersports are available in abundance and all beaches are accessible by yacht. Due to the island being divided into two nations – half-French and half-Dutch – there’s a real cultural mix and amazing cuisine to experience here.

The Cuisine in St Martin

The island of St. Martin is cosmopolitan and has adopted, and sometimes adapted, the cuisines of many nations. The chefs of gourmet restaurants enrich local traditions with their culinary expertise. Blending the various cultures that have influenced St. Martin over the centuries, the island’s specialty is French cuisine with a West Indian twist. Just like St. Martin itself, this mixture will delight your tastebuds and send your other senses reeling too. You’ll love the subtle blend of flavors and pleasant spices: annatto, chayotes, fish, lobster, shellfish, and more.

Here, meals are often cooked outside on huge barbecues. You’ll have no trouble finding all the basic ingredients for this sun-soaked cuisine at Marigot Market.

The Best Things to do in St Martin

We fell in love with this tiny dual-nation island in the Caribbean over a decade ago. St. Maarten  / St. Martin is just 37 square miles and we’ve regularly circumnavigated multiple times on our annual week-long trips there. But despite its small size, we’ve never been bored or had to look too hard for something to do. Our favorite things to do in Sint Maarten/Saint Martin includes go diving without being certified, surfing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, SUP, kayaking, sailing, flyboarding and deep-sea fishing all on offer. Wildlife buffs will enjoy the island’s incredible biodiversity: several species of tropical tree frog, 60 migratory bird species, including herons, egrets, stilts, and pelicans, mongooses, and dozens of species of tropical fish and lizards — among other fauna — call the island home.

The island is known for its varied landscape, staying in one of the St Martin vacation rentals, you can explore Saint Martin’s lush, tropical forests, stunning seascapes, and, if you like, hike to the top of Pic Paradis to marvel at the stunning views of this island paradise. Outdoor enthusiasts staying at St Martin vacation rentals can enjoy activities such as mountain or quad biking around the island, or taking in a game of golf on one of Saint Martin’s many lush courses.
