Nestled in the Caribbean sits the island of St. Martin. The island is split into two, with the northern portion being a part of the Republic of France, and the south is a part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. Between both the French and the Dutch sides, you’ll find more than 40 white sand beaches that lead into the turquoise blue water. Many who visit have a preference towards which side they stay on. The French side is less child-friendly for couples traveling than the Dutch side, making it the perfect destination for honeymooners and couples in love.
Orient Bay Beach
Orient Bay Beach is the most famous beach in St. Martin. Known as the St. Tropez of the Caribbean, you’ll enjoy calm waters perfect for swimming and plenty of shore-side amenities. You can also enjoy nude-friendly portions. At night, stroll the beach and listen to the live music coming from various bars and clubs before getting a drink and watching the stars.
Plum Bay is the ultimate romantic spot to bring a bottle of champagne and watch the sunset with your love. During the day, this is also a prime spot for surfers! It’ll feel secluded and quiet, no matter what time of day you visit.

Happy Bay Beach
Happy Bay Beach is perfect for those wanting to be on the beach but also want some shade. This is a less popular beach than some, but it is also where the annual SXM festival is held. There isn’t a direct road to the beach, but you can get there easily with a 10-minute walk from Friar’s Bay.
Grand Case Beach
A smaller beach located in a fishing village, Grand Case Beach is great for a day in the sun that also revolves around good food and adventure. From here, you can go diving or snorkeling out at Creole Rock and see sea turtles, tropical fish, and seabirds. Onshore, you will find street cart food and upscale restaurants that will all have you coming back for more. It’s the Gourmet Capital of the island, and visiting here is a must!

If you are a family staying on the French side of St. Martin, Anse Marcel would be perfect for you! Located in a cove, the waters are calm enough for swimming or activities like stand-up paddleboarding. There are also many delicious restaurants in this area.
