Spring Break Villa Rentals: Where to Go in 2027

By Haute Retreats · Updated September 2026 · 9-minute read

Spring break villa rentals work on a simple trade: a private house with staff costs less per person than the equivalent rooms at a resort, and nobody has reserved the sunbeds at six in the morning. The harder question is where to go — and in 2027 it comes with a complication worth knowing about before you plan anything.

The 2027 Squeeze
Easter falls on 28 March — inside the peak break

In 2025 Easter was 20 April. In 2026, 5 April. In 2027 it is 28 March, which puts it in the middle of the busiest fortnight of the American school break rather than safely after it. American spring break and European Easter travel land in the same two weeks instead of spreading across five — the same demand, the same houses, a much narrower window.

Peak fortnight roughly 20 March – 4 April 2027
Book by end of January for the best houses

Minimum stays commonly seven nights at flagship estates

Below are seven destinations that work for a spring break, grouped by what they actually solve rather than listed alphabetically, with the villas our specialists reach for in each. If your dates are fixed inside that peak fortnight, read the last section first.

One · For familiesTurks & Caicos

The most reliable choice on this list, and the reason is the water: Grace Bay and Long Bay are shallow, calm and almost windless in March, so children can be in the sea rather than beside it. Direct flights from most US East Coast hubs land before lunch, the currency is the dollar and the language is English — which matters more than it sounds when the trip has a four-year-old in it.

March is dry season at its best, and the reef is at its clearest. Browse Turks & Caicos villa rentals.

Beachfront villa living on Providenciales, Turks and Caicos
Providenciales — shallow, windless water through March, which is why it heads this list.
The villa we book first
Pearl East, Long Bay Beach
8 bedrooms12,000 sq ft150 ft of private beach

One of three houses in the Pearls of Long Bay Estate, with its own beach deck over the Caicos Banks. For a group that has outgrown one house, Pearl East books together with Pearl West and Lidija House as a 23-bedroom compound — which is the single most useful fact on this page if you are planning a multi-family break.

Two · For the sceneSt Barts

French service standards on a Caribbean island, and the busiest social calendar in the region — beach-club lunches that run into the afternoon, Gustavia in the evening, and the shortest distance between villa and restaurant of anywhere here. Spring is the tail of the high season, so the island is lively without being at New Year pitch.

Villa Nanne, St Barts — heated pool terrace above Corossol Bay at night
Villa Nanne, Corossol Bay — the St Barts hillside register: pool, terrace, harbour lights below.
The villa we book first
Villa Diane, above Gustavia
5 suitesSleeps 10Three floors

High on the hillside over the port, with interiors by Gilles & Boissier — drama and restraint in equal measure, and the harbour lights below at dinner. Five suites for ten guests, which is the right scale for two families or a group of couples.

Three · For privacyAnguilla

Thirty-three beaches, no cruise ships, and the best dining in the Caribbean for an island of its size. Anguilla is the answer when the brief is “nobody asking anything of us” — and in a compressed season it holds up better than the busier islands because the density is so low to begin with.

ÀNI Anguilla — private clifftop resort above Little Bay, seen from the air
ÀNI Anguilla — two villas on two acres above Little Bay, taken by one group at a time.
The villa we book first
ÀNI Anguilla, Little Bay
Up to 20 guests20 staffFrom $20,000 / night

An entire private clifftop resort for one group — two villas, North and South, on two acres above Little Bay, with two pools, a tennis court, a gym and a spa. All-inclusive with a staff of twenty, so the week arrives already organised. The strongest single answer here for a large group travelling together.

Four · For the PacificPunta Mita, Mexico

March is Punta Mita’s best month: dry, warm, and the tail of humpback season, so whales pass close enough to watch from a terrace. Short flights from the western US, golf on two Nicklaus courses, and a laid-back register that suits groups who want the beach and the surf rather than the beach club.

The villa we book first
Casa Tres Soles, El Banco
Nine suitesCliffside plateauSauna, spa & gym

On a secluded plateau above the Pacific at Punta de Mita, designed by Juan Colligno Hoff and Manuel Mestre — thatched palapas, indigenous artwork, uninterrupted ocean views in every direction. There is a sauna, a massage room and a full fitness suite, with a trainer, yoga or pilates instructor available on request.

Five · For valuePunta Cana

The best value of the Caribbean options and the easiest logistics anywhere on this page: Punta Cana International sits on the Puntacana Resort property itself, so most villas are about five minutes from the terminal. With eighty-two villas across Cap Cana, Puntacana Resort & Club, Tortuga Bay and Corales, it is also the destination most likely to still have the right house late in the cycle.

Villa Macanao, Playa Serena

Inside Puntacana Resort & Club, steps from Playa Serena, with private round-trip airport transfers, welcome drinks and private in-villa check-in included in the stay. La Cana next door is a 27-hole P.B. Dye course, and the Six Senses spa is on the resort — useful when half the party wants golf and the other half does not.

Six · For Europe in MarchMarbella

If the party is European, or the flight time from the US East Coast is acceptable, the Costa del Sol in late March is quietly excellent: warm enough for lunch outside, cool enough to walk, and empty compared with July. Michelin dining, golf, and the mountains behind the coast for the days nobody wants sand.

The villa we book first
Villa Bulería, La Zagaleta
6 bedroomsLa Zagaleta estateRecently renovated

An Andalusian house in La Zagaleta, the gated estate above Marbella, recently renovated to hold its traditional character alongside a modern kitchen and covered sundecks. The views run to the Sierra Blanca rather than the sea, which is the trade for the privacy.

Seven · For something else entirelyLake Como

Not a beach break, and that is the point. Como in late March is gardens coming into flower, lake mornings with nobody on the water, and restaurants that have just reopened and are glad to see you — before the season starts in earnest. The lake sits in pre-Alpine Lombardy, so the mountains are the backdrop rather than the destination.

800 m elevation4.5 acresHeated infinity pool

Built on the site of a medieval watchtower eight hundred metres above the water, with four and a half acres of garden, a heated infinity pool and a rooftop bar terrace. The heated pool is what makes it a March house rather than a July one.

Also good in March, for different reasons

Three more worth raising with a specialist. Miami for a short-haul break with a city attached — and the shortest flight on this list. Phuket for the far side of the world in its dry season, best if the break runs to ten days or more. And Courchevel 1850 for spring skiing — with Easter falling on 28 March in 2027, the Alps are still in season over the holiday itself, which is not true in every year.

Seven Destinations, One Specialist
Compare them properly

Tell us your dates and who is travelling — we’ll come back with real availability across all seven, and say which we would choose.

If your dates are fixed inside the peak fortnight

Four things that actually help when the window is narrow and the good houses are going.

  • Go where the inventory is deep. Punta Cana holds eighty-two villas and Turks & Caicos is our most-requested collection; both have more chance of the right house late than a small island does.
  • Take the compound option. Pearl East with Pearl West and Lidija House is 23 bedrooms — three linked houses will often be available when one large one is not.
  • Move a day either side. Saturday-to-Saturday is what everyone asks for; a Thursday or Sunday start frequently unlocks a house that reads as booked.
  • Consider the week after Easter. From about 12 April 2027 the pressure drops sharply, the weather is unchanged, and the rates are not the same.
On Price

Across our Caribbean collection, rates start from around $1,200 a night and most villas sit between roughly $3,500 and $25,000, with flagship beachfront estates above that at peak. Divided across a party, a staffed villa with a chef routinely undercuts the equivalent resort rooms — and the chef is included in the comparison. Every quote is confirmed in writing, with the staffing model and any extras stated separately.

Frequently asked questions

When is spring break 2027?

US school and college breaks run from late February through mid-April, concentrated in March. In 2027 the peak fortnight is roughly 20 March to 4 April, because Easter Sunday falls on 28 March — earlier than in either of the two preceding years, which pulls American and European travel into the same window.

How far ahead should I book a spring break villa?

For the peak fortnight, by the end of January, and earlier for anything above eight bedrooms. Large staffed houses in Turks & Caicos, St Barts and Anguilla are the first to go and the last to reappear. Outside that fortnight, six to eight weeks is usually workable.

Is a villa cheaper than a resort for spring break?

Usually, once you count properly. Compare the villa’s nightly rate divided by your party against the number of resort rooms you would actually need, then add what the resort charges for breakfast, poolside food and childcare — most of which a staffed villa includes. The gap widens with group size, and it is largest for multi-family trips.

Which destination is best for a family with young children?

Turks & Caicos, comfortably — calm shallow water, short direct flights, English-speaking, dollar currency. Punta Cana is the best-value alternative with equally easy logistics. Anguilla and St Barts suit families with older children better than toddlers.

Are the villas staffed?

Most are, and the model varies: fully staffed with chef and butler, partially staffed with housekeeping and a chef on request, or all-inclusive as at ÀNI Anguilla. Every villa’s staffing is confirmed in writing before booking — ask specifically about chef arrangements and whether groceries are included, since that is where the real differences hide.

What if the peak weeks are already gone?

Three routes usually work: shift the start day off Saturday, split a large group across linked houses in one estate, or take the week after Easter. Our specialists check all three before saying a destination is closed.
