The Haute Standard — The Twenty-One Days Before You Arrive | Haute Retreats

Being answered is not the same as being known

Every company in this industry promises to be responsive. But responsiveness arrives after the question — after you have noticed the thing, after you have found somebody to tell, after an hour of your week has been spent on it.

The week you have been waiting for is not measured by how well your problems are solved. It is measured by how few of them ever reach you. Anticipation is not charm, and it is not luck. It is a system — and it runs for three weeks before you set down your bags.

A holiday is not improved by a fast reply.
It is improved by never having to make the request.

The twenty-one days before you arrive

This is the part of your holiday you will never see. It is also the part that decides it.

The Profile

A specialist builds your brief

Not to take a booking — to understand a party. Who is travelling. Who cannot manage stairs. Who does not eat shellfish. Whose birthday falls on the Wednesday. What went wrong on the last holiday. It is written down, and it becomes the document the whole house works from.

The Briefing

The house is briefed, not merely booked

Your brief goes to the on-site manager, the chef, the housekeeper. They read it. They come back with questions. They tell us what they intend to do. This is the step no platform performs — and it is the step that decides your week.

Arranged

Arranged, not proposed

The menus. The pantry. The transfers. The boat on Thursday. The table at the restaurant that does not take reservations. You are not sent a list of options to work through on a Sunday evening. You are sent a plan, and asked only to change what you do not want.

The Walk

The house is walked

Every room. Every appliance. The water. The internet. The temperature of the pool. The bulb on the terrace stair that would have failed in a fortnight, and is replaced now. Nothing is discovered by you.

You Arrive

The day you see

The shutters are open on the side the morning takes. The house is cool. Someone has already been to the market. Every person in it knows your name, and one of them knows about the shellfish.

Throughout

One specialist. One manager. No queue.

No ticket, no handover, no explaining yourself twice. The person who built your brief three weeks ago is the person who answers at three in the morning, in Italian or English — and she does not need to be told who you are.

Anticipation is not a gift. It is an operating system.

Haute Retreats was founded by a hotel general manager. Sabrina Piccinin spent twenty-five years in hospitality, running properties for Hyatt, and took loss-making hotels into profit in under five months. She did it by rebuilding two things at once — what the guest experienced, and what the staff experienced — because she had discovered they were the same problem.

A housekeeper who is briefed, respected and properly paid notices the empty glass. One who is not, waits to be asked.

Every company in this market sells a feeling it has no mechanism to produce. We brought the mechanism. The Haute Standard is a hotel's back of house, folded quietly around a private estate — and it is why every one of our 2,400+ houses is fully staffed rather than merely beautiful, and contracted directly with the family who owns it. You cannot brief a house you do not hold.

Your week does not begin at the villa gate

It begins at a private terminal at six in the morning, with a nine-year-old who has lost a shoe. Every handover between suppliers is a place where you must explain yourself again — and every explanation is a small failure of the promise. So there are no handovers.

Wheels up

The jet

Arranged through operators we have flown with for years, held by the same specialist who holds your house. One brief, given once — three weeks earlier.

On the ground

The transfer

Waiting. Named. Cooled. Already aware of the shoe.

Home

The house

Staffed, briefed, walked, and open on the side the morning takes. Nobody asks you anything, because everybody already knows.

Thursday

The yacht

On the day it was always going to be wanted — which nobody had to ask for.

80%

of our guests come back
The rest arrive because somebody told them to

Eight families in ten return — some to the same house, some to the same island in the same week, for the third year running, and still calling it once in a lifetime. They do not come back for the architecture. They come back because they were never asked a single question, and because they have discovered how rare that is.

Our finest guests will never write a public review, and we will never ask them to. Many request that we withhold even their surname. We do — without being asked twice.

Tell us how you travel.
You will not have to tell us twice.

A specialist will build your brief, and return four or five houses chosen for your party and your week — at no cost, and with no obligation. Everything after that is ours.
