How to Get to Anguilla: The Easiest Ways to Reach the Caribbean’s Best-Kept Secret

Published on October 17, 2026 by Haute Retreats

To get to Anguilla from the United States this winter there are three good routes. American Airlines flies nonstop from Miami, and from mid-December BermudAir’s AnguillAir flies nonstop to the island from Boston and Newark twice a week and from Baltimore-Washington once a week. From anywhere else, fly to St Martin, which has nonstop flights from many US cities, and cross by private boat in about 25 minutes, the way most of our guests arrive. Either way, the villa is a short drive from the dock or the runway: see our Anguilla villa rentals.

American Airlines has flown Miami to Anguilla since December 2021 and sets the frequency season by season, so we confirm it for your dates. From San Juan, Tradewind flies to Anguilla daily from December 10 to April 12, and Cape Air flies daily from St Thomas.

Via St Martin: the private boat, the ferry or the short flight

Princess Juliana International Airport on St Martin has nonstop flights from New York, Miami, Atlanta, Charlotte and other US cities, and it is the way most of our guests come. From there:

  • Private boat. About 25 minutes across the channel to Blowing Point, on Anguilla’s south coast. It leaves when you land, your luggage travels with you, and the car to the villa is waiting at the dock. This is the arrival we book most often.
  • Public ferry. A taxi from the airport to Marigot, on the French side of St Martin, then the scheduled ferry to Blowing Point. It cannot be reserved in advance.
  • A short flight. Small aircraft cross from St Martin to Anguilla in about ten minutes, landing at Clayton J. Lloyd International.

You clear immigration and customs when you arrive in Anguilla, at Blowing Point or at the airport, and the villa’s car is waiting outside.

Which route for which villa

Anguilla is about sixteen miles long, so no arrival is far from any house, but the two entry points sit in different places. Blowing Point is a short drive from the west-end beaches, Meads Bay, Long Bay, Barnes Bay and Rendezvous Bay, and from Little Harbour. The airport is near The Valley, in the middle of the island, which makes a flight the closer arrival for Shoal Bay, Island Harbour and the east. Our guide to the best beaches in Anguilla explains the beaches, and our Anguilla villa rentals matches each one to its houses.

Arriving over Christmas and New Year

In August 2026 the Virtuoso travel network ranked Anguilla third in the world and first in the Caribbean for festive travel, from December 15 to January 7, behind only the United States and Mexico; West End, Anguilla, was No. 8 among individual destinations. In the last two weeks of December the AnguillAir seats, the private boats from St Martin and the arrival slots fill the way the villas do, so we book the crossing with the house. Our guide to where to stay in Anguilla for the festive season explains the festive minimums and which beach suits which group.

Getting around Anguilla

Cars drive on the left, the roads are quiet and every beach is within about twenty-five minutes of the others. A car and driver for the first days and a rental once you know the island is an easy combination; your concierge arranges both, and the boat days to the cays.
