Mexico Villa Rentals available Spring Break 2026

Events not to miss in December 2025

Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe – National, focus on CDMX & Puerto Vallarta

When: December 1–12, peak on December 12, 2025
Where: Nationwide, especially Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mexico City, and downtown Puerto Vallarta

  • Millions of pilgrims walk or cycle into Mexico City to the Basilica, with masses, traditional dancers, and fireworks around December 11–12.

  • In Puerto Vallarta, the Fiestas Guadalupanas run Dec 1–12, with 400+ processions, mariachi bands, folkloric dancers, food stalls and nightly fireworks finishing at the Our Lady of Guadalupe parish.

Why go:
It’s the most important religious celebration in Mexico—great to combine 2–3 nights in Mexico City or a colonial/beach combo (CDMX + Vallarta/Punta Mita).

Las Posadas – Candlelit processions & piñatas

When: December 16–24, 2025
Where: Throughout Mexico; especially charming in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico City’s historic center, and Riviera Maya towns

  • Nine nights of processions reenacting Mary and Joseph’s search for lodging, ending with parties, ponche (spiced punch), and star-shaped piñatas.

  • In San Miguel de Allende, posadas spill into plazas and streets, very accessible for visitors and incredibly atmospheric in the colonial center.

Why go:
This is the way to experience a Mexican Christmas—ideal if guests are in a colonial city pre-beach, or staying in Riviera Maya/Puerto Vallarta and want one very local evening.

Noche de Rábanos – Night of the Radishes, Oaxaca

When: December 23, 2025
Where: Zócalo (main square), Oaxaca City

  • A unique festival where artisans carve oversized radishes into elaborate nativity scenes, churches, folk characters and more, displayed for one night only in the main square.

  • The city also layers in fireworks, food stalls and live music around the zócalo.

Why go:
Totally one-of-a-kind and very photogenic. Perfect to pair with a gastronomy-focused stay in Oaxaca, then fly on to beach villas for Christmas or New Year.

Riviera Maya & Cancun festive season

When: All December, with peak around Christmas & New Year’s Eve
Where: Riviera Maya (Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Mayakoba, Akumal, Puerto Aventuras, etc.)

  • Luxury resorts and beach clubs run tree-lighting ceremonies, special Christmas dinners, spa and wellness events, and New Year’s Eve parties with live music and fireworks.

  • Local towns also host posadas and small street festivals, so guests can mix high-end beach time with authentic local celebrations.

Why go:
Ideal for guests who want “Christmas in flip-flops”: warm water, cenotes, private chefs + enough local culture to feel special.

Los Cabos Holiday Season – Tree lightings & NYE parties

When: Early December through New Year’s Eve, Dec 31, 2025
Where: Cabo San Lucas & San José del Cabo

Key moments (many at 5-star resorts, easy to pair with villas):

  • Solaz Resort Los Cabos tree lighting – around Dec 5, marking the start of the holiday season.

  • Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal tree lighting & “Taste of Christmas Magic”Dec 19, with Champagne and holiday tasting experiences.

  • Solaz New Year’s Eve Celebration – Dec 31, 2025: live music, DJ, fireworks, champagne toast and gala atmosphere on the Sea of Cortez.

Why go:
Great for guests who want polished, U.S-friendly festive programming with whale watching, golf and private-yacht days layered in.

Punta Mita & Puerto Vallarta Coast – Guadalupanas & coastal Christmas

When: December 1–25, 2025
Where: Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, Riviera Nayarit

  • Fiestas Guadalupanas (Dec 1–12) transform downtown Vallarta with nightly processions, music, and fireworks.

  • Upscale resorts and restaurants (e.g. La Palapa) host special Christmas Eve & Christmas dinners Dec 24–25, often right on the beach.

  • At Four Seasons Punta Mita, festive programming includes a Holiday Alebrije Hunt (Dec 22), Tales by Firelight (Dec 23), and a Mexican fair for kids, perfect for families in villas around Bahía de Banderas.

Why go:
Mix of very local fiestas in town and ultra-curated resort experiences—easy win for multigenerational family trips.

Zamna Tulum – New Year’s Eve jungle party

When: Dec 31, 2025 (plus events into early January 2026)
Where: Zamna Festival, Tulum

  • The Zamna platform lists MRAK New Year’s Eve and related experiences at Zamna Tulum on Dec 31, with big-name electronic acts and immersive jungle staging.

Why go:
For party-focused guests, this is the NYE in the Riviera Maya: think villa or boutique hotel days + full jungle festival nights.

Why Choose a
Villa in Mexico?

Mexico luxury villas deliver barefoot-chic living across two coasts—Los Cabos desert drama, Punta Mita’s gated calm with club access, Tulum’s jungle-meets-sea aesthetic, Riviera Maya’s cenotes and reefs, and Puerto Escondido’s surf scene. With Haute Retreats, your villa becomes a private resort—quiet, tailored, and effortless.

Complete privacy & exclusivity
Private pools, expansive terraces, and dedicated staff (chef, butler, housekeeping)—no crowds, no corridors.

Space for families & groups
Multiple ensuite bedrooms, indoor–outdoor living, media rooms and casitas—far more comfort than any hotel suite.

Ocean views & setting choices
Cliffside sunsets in Los Cabos, beachfront days in Punta Mita, rooftop pools in Tulum, lagoon calm in Riviera Maya.

Flexible, personalized service
Chef-led taquizas and mezcal tastings, in-villa spa and yoga, yacht days to the Marietas or Isla Mujeres, cenote swims and turtle snorkeling in Akumal—designed around your rhythm.

Club perks & experiences
Select villas include beach-club access, golf (e.g., Jack Nicklaus courses in Punta Mita), tennis, kids’ programs, and priority dining holds.

One beautiful home instead of multiple hotel rooms—more privacy, better gathering spaces, and an itinerary curated by your concierge.

Ready to match the right coast + right villa to your dates? I’ll short-list options in Los Cabos, Punta Mita, Tulum, Riviera Maya, or Puerto Escondido and line up chef nights, yacht days, and spa time.

Best Time
to visit Mexico

Short answer: November–May is the sweet spot for most villa trips—dry skies, pleasant temps, and calm seas. Late December–early January is peak holiday (book early). Late October–mid-November and May–June are great shoulder months for value.

Know the seasons

  • Hurricane season: June–November (Pacific peaks Aug–Sep; Caribbean peaks Sep–Oct). We’ll steer you around storm windows.

  • Sargassum (seaweed), Riviera Maya/Tulum: Can spike March–October; varies by year and beach orientation.

  • Whale watching, Los Cabos: December–April (prime Jan–Mar).

  • Surf:

    • Punta Mita/Riviera Nayarit: Nov–Mar (longboard-friendly, consistent).

    • Puerto Escondido/Oaxaca: May–Oct (south swells; advanced at Zicatela).

  • Golf comfort: Nov–April (cooler, breezier).

By region

  • Los Cabos (Pacific/Baja): Best Nov–June; warmest seas late summer, but Aug–Sep brings storm risk.

  • Punta Mita / Riviera Nayarit: Best Nov–May; summer brings heat/humidity and some rain, still workable with villa days.

  • Tulum / Riviera Maya: Best Dec–April; watch spring–summer sargassum.

  • Puerto Escondido / Oaxaca Coast: Best Nov–May for dry weather; surfers target May–Oct.

Tell me your dates + coast and what you care about (swimmable beaches, whales, surf, no seaweed, golf), and I’ll pinpoint the best weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions

1) Cabo, Punta Mita or Tulum—how do we choose?
We hop on a 10-minute call, ask about kids’ ages, swim comfort, golf/surf goals, and nightlife tolerance. Small kids and calm water → Punta Mita (Manzanillo/Kupuri). Golf + dining variety → Los Cabos (Quivira, Palmilla, El Cardonal). Design + cenotes/wellness → Tulum.

2) When’s the best time to come?
For most travelers: November–May. Whales in Cabo Jan–Mar. Riviera Maya can see sargassum spring–summer—we check beach cams daily and pivot to the best coves or plan yacht days.

3) Are the beaches swimmable?
Yes, with the right spots: Cabo (Chileno, Santa Maria), Punta Mita (Manzanillo, Kupuri). Tulum varies by day and wind; we advise in real time. Puerto Escondido has heavier surf—families use Carrizalillo.

4) What’s typically included at the villas?
Daily housekeeping is standard. Chef/butler depend on the home (we’ll specify before you book). We handle pre-stocking, drivers, childcare, spa—priced upfront, no surprises; gratuity guidance provided (e.g., boats often 15–20%).

5) Can you get us club access, golf times, and smooth arrivals?
Yes. In Punta Mita, access depends on your villa’s membership—we confirm before deposit. We hold tee times at Pacifico/Bahía or Quivira/Palmilla, secure dinner tables, and set VIP meet-and-greet at SJD/PVR/CUN/TQO with a WhatsApp thread for the trip.
