Kilada on the Rocks

Kilada bay sits on the Argolic coast of the Peloponnese, two and a half hours by road from Athens, and Kilada on the Rocks stands directly above its own cove. A natural wall of rock closes the little beach off from the bay, and in summer the afternoon thermal breeze flattens the water inside it. Every room in the house faces west, so the sunset is the daily event.

Four en-suite bedrooms and a fifth for when it’s needed sleep eight comfortably, nine at a push, with separate staff quarters on top. We’d suggest it for a family of swimmers, or for two couples who want Porto Heli’s restaurants within reach and nobody else’s towels on the sand. THE HOUSE

White Greek marble runs through every floor. Frameless sliding windows take the living room straight out onto the main terrace and the infinity pool, and a Boffi kitchen divides the sitting area from the indoor dining table. A second fully equipped kitchen sits by the pool for cooking outside, plus a kitchenette on the top floor for an early coffee. Air-conditioning, Wi-Fi, a smart TV in every room with Netflix and Apple TV, Agape bathrooms. And the olive oil on the table comes from the garden’s own trees.

THE MASTER BEDROOM

Corner windows with almost no frame give the master the feeling of hanging over the water, which is the view the house was built around. The top-floor bedrooms open onto the upper panoramic terrace, while the ground-floor bedrooms step straight out to the pool and the outdoor living area. Each bedroom has its own terrace, its own bathroom and a west-facing sea view.

THE BEACH AND THE POOL

Walk down from the pool for one minute and you’re on the cove, enclosed by its rocks, with a canoe and snorkelling gear in the house for whoever wants them. The infinity pool sits in a Mediterranean garden of pine, cypress and olive trees, with two terraces: the main one around the pool, the upper one for the sunset.

THE SERVICE

Breakfast and daily cleaning are included, as are luxury linen and bathroom products, and an SUV comes with the house. Through the concierge, on request: private chefs, catering, cooking classes, yoga at the villa, babysitters, a driver or taxi transfers. Porto Heli is the base for sailing, diving and watersports, and boats leave for Spetses and Hydra by day and after dark. A garage and storage basement take the luggage and the toys.

THE LOCATION

Between the Amanzoe and the myKilada Jack Nicklaus signature golf course, the villa is two minutes’ drive from the clubhouse. The Doroufi taverna, on the beach with its own garden produce, is a ten-minute walk; Kilada village keeps its fishermen and the region’s last shipyard for kaikia. Epidaurus and Nafplio make easy day trips. From Athens it’s a two-and-a-half-hour drive, a high-speed boat from Piraeus to Porto Heli, or a helicopter to a landing pad a couple of minutes away. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the beach really private?
Yes: the cove directly below the villa is enclosed by rock and reached on foot from the pool in about a minute.

How do we get there from Athens?
About two and a half hours by car, by high-speed boat from Piraeus to Porto Heli, or by helicopter to a pad minutes away. Private transfers can be arranged.

What is the minimum stay?
Four nights for most of the year, seven in the summer high season (5 June to 17 September 2027). Weeks run Saturday to Saturday.

Is smoking allowed?
Not inside the house.

Is there a security deposit?
Yes, EUR 9,000, held on a credit card before arrival.
