Above Rocks

Above Rocks sits on the edge of the Chalk Sound lagoon on Providenciales: four bedrooms split between a main house and a separate guest house, two pools, one of them at the guest house, and a hot tub. Kayaks and paddleboards come free of charge, for the shallow water, the islands and the coves of the sound.

Eight guests, two to a bedroom, with children and babies counted. The main house holds two bedrooms and the guest house the other two, and that split is the reason to choose it: two families, or parents travelling with grown children who’d like a door of their own. Families booking Turks and Caicos villas together for the first time often ask us for exactly this, shared evenings and separate mornings.

THE HOUSE

Modern, and built around indoor-outdoor living, the property is gated and has a security system. Each house is on two floors. You get a full kitchen, outdoor dining and a barbecue grill, air conditioning and ceiling fans, Wi-Fi, a sound system, televisions, a washer and dryer, an iron and a safe. Power is solar.

THE BEDROOMS

In the main house the master has a king bed and an en-suite bathroom with a tub and a walk-in shower, and it opens onto a second-floor balcony. Bedroom two has two queen beds and its own bathroom with a walk-in shower. Over in the guest house the pattern repeats: a king room with a bathtub, a walk-in shower and second-floor balcony access, then a second room with two queens and a walk-in shower. All four have air conditioning and a ceiling fan, and each has its own bathroom, four in total.

THE POOLS AND THE LAGOON

Thirty-four feet by eleven, the main pool runs from three to five feet deep. The guest house pool is smaller, 17 feet by 7.9 and five feet deep, and the hot tub measures six by six. No lifeguard, of course. A cabana stands just above the lagoon, good for morning coffee or a drink at sunset, with a lounging deck for the sun and hammocks for the afternoon. After dark, people end up around the firepit. An outdoor shower, beach chairs, an umbrella, a cooler and beach towels are all on the inventory.

THE SERVICE

Weekly stays include one midweek cleaning, and a property manager is on call through the stay. No daily staff are listed, so meals are yours to plan.

THE RULES

Expect the 12 per cent government tax on top of the rate. Above the solar supply there’s an electricity allowance of up to USD 500 a week; any overage is charged at the market rate plus 12 per cent tax. Occupancy is two per bedroom, babies included. Minimum stays are five nights through most of the year and seven over Christmas and New Year, from January to the end of April and at Thanksgiving 2027. Smoking, pets and events are not permitted. Check-in after 4 pm, check-out by 10 am.
