Bella Sol
Description
Bella Sol is a new villa above Taylor Bay Beach on the Chalk Sound side of Providenciales, with 25 acres of untouched land around it, and it runs on the sun: a 20 KW solar system and a 75 KW battery bank power the house, and solar heat warms the pool.
Six guests, three king bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms. We’d suggest it for three couples or parents travelling with grown children, because the pool-level suite has its own kitchen, dining table for four and living room, so one pair can keep to themselves. Among the new villas in Turks and Caicos we’re placing this season, it’s the solar one.
THE HOUSE
A prize-winning architect from Key West drew the 3,500 square feet to merge inside and out. Glass doors that fold away, floor to ceiling, open to the ocean, and nearly every room has oversized windows onto Taylor Bay, Silly Creek or Chalk Sound. Upstairs, the main living floor rises to 20-foot cathedral ceilings over an open plan: a living room with a 65-inch TV, a gourmet kitchen, banquette dining for up to eight, a laundry room and a powder room. Furniture comes from Lexington, Century and Hickory Chair. Behind the walls, insulated ICF construction, high-efficiency air conditioning and efficient appliances and lighting keep the solar load down, with a backup generator for good measure. Sound system, TVs, a safe, Wi-Fi, and the property is gated.
THE BEDROOMS
Two of the kings are on the main living floor, each with an ensuite walk-in shower and custom closets. The third king, with ocean views, is downstairs at pool level in what the plans call the guest suite, with its own full kitchen, a dining area for four, a separate living room facing the pool and the ocean, and a full bathroom with a walk-in shower, a washer and a dryer. Three full bathrooms and the powder room make up the three and a half.
THE POOL AND THE TERRACE
Three to six feet deep and tiled, the pool takes its warmth from the sun. There’s a Jacuzzi, a covered pool deck, an outdoor shower and a barbecue grill, the sunset in clear view, and the beach only steps away. Out on the terrace, six can eat in the open air or stretch out on the lounge seating, and the outdoor furniture is Tommy Bahama. Beach chairs, an umbrella, a cooler and towels are provided.
THE SERVICE
On stays of seven nights or more, a midweek housekeeping visit comes at no charge. No daily staff are listed for the house; if you’d like a cook or extra help, ask us when you book and we’ll find out.
THE RULES
Rates exclude the 12 per cent government tax. Two guests per bedroom is the basis of the rate, children and infants included, which makes six the ceiling. Minimum stay is five nights, seven over Christmas and New Year. No smoking, no pets, no events. Check-in after 4 pm, check-out before 10 am.
THE LOCATION
From Providenciales International Airport the drive is about 25 minutes; central Grace Bay, its restaurants and Provo Golf Club are 10 to 15 minutes away.
