Description

Hacienda A57 is a four-bedroom house on the golf course in Hacienda, a community inside Puntacana Resort & Club, with a big lit garden, a pool, a housekeeper in the rate and two private beach clubs for guests. The owner lets it to family groups only. Ten guests, six bathrooms.

Four en-suite bedrooms sleep ten: two kings and two rooms with two double beds each. We’d put it forward for two families with children, or grandparents travelling with a daughter’s family, since families are the only groups the owner accepts. Of the Punta Cana villas we place, it’s the plainest in the best sense.

THE HOUSE

The furnishing is spare, a minimalistic take on Caribbean style, in a large and spacious house with high ceilings and air-conditioning. The dining room seats twelve, there’s a sofa lounge with seating inside and out, a balcony and a terrace. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a dishwasher, an ice maker and a coffee machine, and an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and gas grill is there for eating outside. Cable and smart TV, Wi-Fi, a safe, a washer and dryer and a welcome pack are in the house.

THE BEDROOMS

Each bedroom has its own bathroom, air-conditioning and a ceiling fan. Bedrooms one and three have king beds; two and four have two double beds each, for children or for couples who prefer their own bed. Six bathrooms are listed, two of them with a bath as well as a shower, with hairdryers and toiletries in all; the owner’s text counts five and a half.

THE POOL AND THE GARDEN

A pool, a patio and a lawn, with a big garden that’s lushly planted and lit, directly on the golf course with the fairways in view. Beach towels are in the house, and guests may use two private beach clubs in the resort.

THE STAFF

A housekeeper comes with the house. An English-speaking concierge books tee times, tennis courts and excursions and can arrange grocery shopping, airport transfers, golf cart rental, yacht and catamaran charters, fishing, car and bike rental, a personal trainer, a massage therapist, live music and decorations, all on request. Chef services can be booked.

THE RULES

Family groups only. Quiet hours are 10 pm to 9 am, parties and events need written approval, smoking is for designated outdoor areas, drones are not allowed in the resort, and pets are accepted only with written authorisation before arrival. The resort asks for every guest’s ID or passport at least 48 hours before check-in. A refundable damage deposit of 20 per cent of the rent is taken on arrival and returned five days after check-out.

THE LOCATION

Puntacana Resort & Club has seven restaurants and bars, 45 holes of golf, twelve tennis courts on different surfaces, two beaches, a nature reserve and a marina. Puntacana Village, outside the gates, has eight restaurants, plus bars, shops and a pharmacy, and the Blue Mall is a few minutes away.
