Lagos 20 is a grand five-bedroom villa in a timeless contemporary style on the lagoons of the Lagos community in Puntacana Resort & Club, the beach and the Indigenous Eyes reserve a short golf cart ride away, with a chef and a housekeeper in the rate and live-in staff housed in their own quarters. Twelve guests, six bathrooms, two private beach clubs for guests.

Five en-suite bedrooms sleep twelve: four kings and a room with two queens. We’d suggest it for two families who want the chef from the first night and the staff out of sight, or for four couples with one pair of children. Of the Punta Cana villas we place, it’s the staffed one on the water.

THE HOUSE

The common areas are spacious and elegantly appointed, with two dining spaces, one of them open-air, a table for twelve, a sofa lounge with seating inside and out, a balcony and a terrace, high ceilings and air-conditioning. The kitchen is fully equipped, with a dishwasher, an ice maker and a coffee machine, and there’s an outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and gas grill. Cable and smart TV, Wi-Fi, a safe, a washer and dryer and a welcome pack are in the house.

THE BEDROOMS

Every bedroom has its own bathroom, air-conditioning and a ceiling fan. Bedrooms one to four have king beds, and bedroom five has two queens, for a family. Six bathrooms with showers, one of them with a bath as well, and hairdryers and toiletries throughout.

THE POOL AND THE WATER

A pool, a patio and a lawn overlooking the lagoons, with the golf course in view; the house is lakefront. Beach towels are in the house, the beach and the Indigenous Eyes reserve are a short golf cart ride away, and guests may use two private beach clubs.

THE STAFF

A chef and a housekeeper are included. The owner describes live-in staff in separate quarters, a chef, a butler for upkeep and service, and a housekeeper for the daily cleaning; the butler isn’t on the included list, so we confirm that role when we quote. A bilingual concierge books tee times, tennis courts and excursions and can arrange grocery shopping, airport transfers, golf cart rental, yacht and catamaran charters, fishing, car and bike rental, a personal trainer, a massage therapist, live music and decorations, all on request. Breakfast can be booked.

THE RULES

Quiet hours are 10 pm to 9 am, parties and events need written approval, smoking is for designated outdoor areas, drones are not allowed in the resort, and pets are accepted only with written authorisation before arrival. The resort asks for every guest’s ID or passport at least 48 hours before check-in. Security cameras cover the front and sides of the house, not the pool or private areas. A refundable damage deposit of 10 per cent of the rent is taken on arrival and returned five days after check-out.

THE LOCATION

Puntacana Resort & Club has seven restaurants and bars, 45 holes of golf, twelve tennis courts, two beaches, a nature reserve and a marina; Puntacana Village, outside the gates, has eight restaurants, bars, shops and a pharmacy, and the Blue Mall is a few minutes away.
