Villa Trasimena
Description
Villa Trasimena stands on a hillside of olive groves at Torricella, a ten-minute walk from a small village on the shore of Lake Trasimeno, with two pools: an infinity pool with a 12-metre edge over the lake, and an indoor heated one with a sauna for the months when the first is closed. Five bedrooms and a mezzanine of single beds sleep twelve. Perugia 25 km, Cortona 30.
Five bedrooms sleep ten, with single beds on a mezzanine for two more, and six bathrooms. We’d put it forward for three families, or a group of friends who want the lake in July and the indoor pool in November. Of the villas in Italy we place, it’s the one we’d book for a winter week on the lake.
THE HOUSE
A white marble staircase rises from the entrance hall, and an archway leads into a living room with comfortable sofas, a fireplace in stone and a 50-inch smart TV. The dining room has its own fireplace and a large table, with a door to the terrace; the kitchen is a masonry one, rustic in style, fully equipped and with a door to the patio. Antique pieces and modern ones share the rooms. A bathroom with twin basins and a hydromassage shower, a twin bedroom and the laundry, reached from outside, complete the ground floor. Underfloor heating, air-conditioning, mosquito screens, a safe, a washer and dryer, an iron and satellite TV are in the house.
THE BEDROOMS
Three double bedrooms on the first floor have en-suite shower rooms, one of them with a bathtub as well, and a fourth double has a separate shower room. A staircase from this floor leads to the mezzanine with its single beds; the twin bedroom is on the ground floor.
THE POOLS
The outdoor pool faces south, its 12-metre infinity edge falling away towards the valley and the lake, open from 1 May to 30 September, weather permitting. In the ground-floor dépendance is a heated indoor pool behind large glass windows, with hydromassage stations, a sauna beside it and a pair of showers, for the cooler days and the rest of the year.
OUTSIDE
The patio off the kitchen takes dinner with the lake and the sunset in front of it; there’s a barbecue and a pizza oven, landscaped gardens with an aromatic garden, and the olive groves on the hillside. Parking is on the property and the grounds are fenced.
THE SERVICE
On weekly stays a midweek clean is included, with linen changed on Saturdays and towels midweek, along with linen, bath and pool towels, Wi-Fi, heating, air-conditioning, final cleaning and a guided tour of an olive oil mill with a tasting. Pets are accepted on request at EUR 140 per pet per week. Check-in runs from 4 pm to 7 pm, check-out by 10 am.
THE LOCATION
The nearest village, with a supermarket, is 1 km away. Passignano sul Trasimeno is 8 km, Perugia 25, Cortona 30, Perugia Airport 33, Montepulciano 44, Assisi 48, Arezzo 74 and Florence 130.
