Villa Bianca la Luna
Description
Bianca la Luna is a small house on the hill above San Feliciano, where Umbria meets Tuscany, with Lake Trasimeno and Isola Polvese in the windows. Floor-to-ceiling windows, an infinity pool of 4 by 8 metres, and the village 700 metres down the lane. Three bedrooms sleep five.
Two double bedrooms and a single, three bathrooms and 170 square metres. We’d suggest it for a couple with a child or a grandparent in tow, or for two couples who don’t need a big house. Of the villas in Italy we place, it’s the one we’d pick for a lake week without a crowd.
THE HOUSE
Downstairs is one open space under high white wooden ceilings: a living room with two sofas facing the fireplace, an arch into the dining area with a wooden table for eight, and a kitchen that opens straight outside. A bathroom with shower and a laundry room complete the floor. Air-conditioning and heating run throughout, with mosquito screens on the windows, a washing machine and dryer, an iron, a safe and satellite TV. The kitchen has espresso, moka and American coffee machines, a wine fridge, a juicer and a dishwasher; a cot and a high chair are available.
THE BEDROOMS
All three bedrooms are on the first floor, along with a reading lounge. One double and the single share a modern bathroom with a double sink and shower; the second double has its own en-suite shower room.
THE POOL AND THE VERANDA
The infinity pool runs 4 by 8 metres and is open from 1 May to 30 September. A covered veranda with large glass openings joins the house to the garden, with a pergola, a large table for dinner outside and a barbecue. Parking is on the property.
THE SERVICE
A midweek clean with a towel change is included, linen is changed on Saturdays, and final cleaning is covered, as is a guided tour of a local olive oil mill with a tasting. Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and heating are in the rate. Pets are accepted on request, at EUR 140 per pet per week. Check-in runs from 4 pm to 7 pm, check-out by 10 am.
THE LOCATION
San Feliciano’s centre is 700 metres away, with bars and restaurants looking over the lake; the ferry to Isola Polvese and a lakeside beach are 2 km. Passignano is 8 km, Castiglione del Lago 23, Perugia 26 and its airport 35, Cortona 35, Assisi and Montepulciano 50; golf is 16 km away and the spa at Chianciano Terme 45. Umbria is the region most of our guests cross on the way to somewhere else, which is a mistake: our short guide to a stay in Umbria explains why the lake is worth the week.
