Description
Villa Zietta is a stone farmhouse in the hills four kilometres outside Castellina in Chianti, completely renovated and set in three hectares of its own vineyard, olive trees and fruit trees. It was made for big families. A main house, a guesthouse and an annex together give 800 square metres, nine bedrooms and four kitchens, so twenty-two people can share the estate and still have their own corners. The infinity pool looks over the Chianti hills, the tennis court is full size, and the long table under the west-facing pergola seats twenty for dinner as the sun goes down. Housekeeping comes six hours a day, five days a week. Where exactly is Villa Zietta?
The villa stands on a quiet hillside four kilometres from Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of Chianti Classico between Florence and Siena. Castellina is a few minutes’ drive away for coffee, the market and dinner in the village. Radda, Gaiole, Greve and Panzano are all close, and Siena is around half an hour. Florence, San Gimignano and Volterra make easy day trips.
The last stretch of the approach is an unpaved country road, as it is for most estates of this kind in Chianti. A car with some clearance makes it more comfortable.
What is the house like inside?
The renovation kept the stone walls and the farmhouse proportions and filled the rooms with light. Air conditioning and heating run in every room, Wi-Fi covers the estate, and every bedroom has a television. There is a movie and PlayStation room for the children and teenagers, a fully equipped kitchen in the main house, and three more kitchens in the guesthouse and annex. A laundry room with washer and dryer is free to use.
How are the bedrooms arranged?
Nine bedrooms across three buildings, sleeping twenty-two, with two sofa beds for two more if needed. The beds are 180 cm doubles throughout, with one 160 cm. Several rooms share a bathroom with their neighbour, which suits families and couples who know each other well. For guests who want a private bathroom, the rooms to give them are the duplex, bedroom five, the annex and the guesthouse.

- One large open room with a 180 cm double, a sofa bed, an open kitchen with a three-seat island, walk-in closet, bathroom and separate WC
The guesthouse gives a second family its own front door, terrace and kitchen. The annex suits a couple or a grandparent who wants independence close to the main house.
What is outside?
Three hectares of garden, vineyard, olive and fruit trees. The infinity pool is 6 by 12 metres, heated, with a panoramic view across the Chianti hills and sun beds along its edge.
The full-size tennis court also faces the hills. There is a roofed outdoor gym with ceiling fans, table tennis, open lawns for games, and space for children to run.
The heart of the evening is the west-facing pergola terrace, where a long table seats twenty with the sunset in front of it. A barbecue area and a new wood-fired pizza oven are beside it, with plenty of shaded seating around the grounds.
Is the villa staffed?
Housekeeping is included: six hours a day, five days a week. A private chef or cook can be arranged for any number of meals, from a single pizza night to cooking every evening, and previous guests have particularly recommended it. A welcome basket and the Haute Retreats concierge, available around the clock, are part of the stay.

First off the house is stunning, the property is amazing and so accommodating for large parties. We had 21 people and it fit us all perfectly and they brought us cribs and all the things we needed. We had added a personal chef to our reservation and she was fantastic. The host was great and they also helped us plan excursions for placed near us and made bookings for wine tours, food tours etc. Monica and Elizabeth were great and Chef Orietta, and our pizziera Flavio were so great! Highly recommend this place as its only about 40 min drive from Florence and only 30 mins from Sienna ans San Gimignano. If you want to feel relaxed stay here! You won’t regret it!
