Every villa company calls itself the best. The useful question is what anyone can check. Haute Retreats was named Best Ultra-Luxury Villa Rental & Concierge Services in the World at the Luxury Lifestyle Awards — but an award is a conclusion, not an argument. What follows is the argument: what the judges assessed, what the numbers behind it are, and which of the claims on this page you can verify without taking our word for any of it. Then browse the collection and judge for yourself.
An award-winning villa company should be able to show you three things: an independent body that assessed it, a service standard written down before the booking rather than after, and a return rate. Ours are the Luxury Lifestyle Awards, The Haute Standard 21-day protocol, and eight in ten families who book again . The rest of this page is the detail behind each.
What has actually been awarded, and by whom
Luxury Lifestyle Awards — Best Ultra-Luxury Villa Rental & Concierge Services in the World. An independent international body that assesses on service delivery, portfolio quality and client experience rather than on paid entry alone.
Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice 2026 — nominee. Stated as a nomination, deliberately, because that is what it is. Results are announced in November. We would rather be a year early with the correct word than a year early with the wrong one.
Trustpilot 5/5 , and membership of the American Society of Travel Advisors — the trade body whose standards apply whether or not anyone is watching.
What the award actually measures
Villa awards are usually given for the portfolio. Ours was given for the portfolio and the concierge, which matters because the two are judged differently. Anyone can list beautiful houses; photographs are supplied by owners and they all look the same at 1,200 pixels wide. Service is harder to fake, because it either happened or it did not, and the guest knows which.
The distinction shows up in one operational fact: every home in the collection has been visited . Not photographed, not listed from a partner feed — visited, by someone whose job is to say no. Roughly 2,400 villas across 83 destinations have passed that filter, and a meaningful number of properties have not. That filter is the company’s whole method, and it is why the founders still sign off on what enters the collection.
Ask who visited the house, when, and what they turned down that month. A marketplace cannot answer the first question. A company that has never declined a property is not curating, it is listing. The answer tells you more than any badge on a homepage, including ours.
The proof, claim by claim
Below is every claim on this page, what stands behind it, and whether you can verify it independently. Two of the seven you cannot check without asking us — those are marked honestly rather than dressed up.
| Claim | What stands behind it | Independently verifiable? |
|---|---|---|
| Best Ultra-Luxury Villa Rental & Concierge Services in the World | Luxury Lifestyle Awards, an independent international awards body | Yes — published on the awarding body’s own site |
| Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice 2026 | Nominee. Results announced November 2026 | Yes — and stated here as a nomination, not a win |
| Trustpilot 5/5 | Guest reviews on a third-party platform we do not control | Yes — read them on Trustpilot, not on our site |
| ASTA member | American Society of Travel Advisors membership | Yes — searchable in the ASTA member directory |
| Every home visited and vetted | Our own inspection process, property by property | No — but ask about any specific villa and we will tell you when it was last seen and by whom |
| Eight in ten families return | Our own booking records | No — an internal figure, stated as such |
| Zero payment disputes in eight years | Our own transaction history across two legal entities | No — internal, but the reason it holds is structural: contracts and funds sit with registered entities in Miami and Italy, not with individual agents |
The Haute Standard: the part that is written down
The reason the concierge award is separable from the villa award is that the service runs to a protocol rather than to goodwill. The Haute Standard is a 21-day pre-arrival sequence that begins the moment a booking is confirmed: preferences and dietary needs captured, the house team briefed, provisioning set, transfers aligned to actual flight times, and a written run-of-stay delivered before anyone boards a plane.
Every file carries one named specialist from first enquiry through departure. The person who confirms the villa is the person who answers the phone on day four, which sounds unremarkable until you have had the alternative. That model is also what makes the bespoke concierge service work at scale: chefs, drivers, boat days and childcare are coordinated by someone who already knows the house and the family.
What we publish that competitors do not
An awards page is a weak place to argue expertise, because everyone claims it. Research is a stronger one, because it can be checked and cited.
The Billionaire Villa Index 2026 ranks the world’s most in-demand ultra-luxury villa destinations from our own booking and enquiry data — Tuscany first, Turks & Caicos second, Lake Como third. It publishes real figures rather than adjectives: the average staffed week in Italy, why Lake Como costs roughly double Tuscany, and how far ahead the top of the market now commits. No competitor publishes anything equivalent, because it requires having the data in the first place.
Where the collection is strongest
Recognition is regional as much as global. The destinations where our inventory runs deepest are also the ones where the specialist knowledge is oldest: Italy , where the company was founded and where a second legal entity operates; Turks and Caicos and the wider Caribbean; and the Mediterranean from the French Riviera through Greece and Spain. The full list runs to 83 destinations, and every one of them is reachable from the destinations directory .
For travel advisors
Advisors assess a supplier differently from guests: they want the payment record, the response time and the escalation path, in that order. Ours are zero payment disputes across eight years , one named specialist per file from first enquiry through departure, and a 24-hour response standard on availability requests. Commission terms and the fam-trip calendar are provided in writing before a first booking, not after it — ask the reservations team and mark it for the advisor desk.
What an award does not tell you
It does not tell you whether the house suits your group. It does not tell you whether the staffing scales past twelve people, whether the pool is safe for a three-year-old, or whether the terrace is usable at four in the afternoon in August. Those are the questions that decide a holiday, and no badge answers any of them.
What recognition does tell you is that the process behind those answers has been examined by someone with no commercial interest in the outcome. That is worth exactly as much as it is worth — which is to say, it is a reason to start the conversation, not a reason to skip it.
Frequently asked
What award has Haute Retreats won?
Haute Retreats was named Best Ultra-Luxury Villa Rental & Concierge Services in the World at the Luxury Lifestyle Awards, an independent international body that assesses service delivery, portfolio quality and client experience. The company is also a 2026 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice nominee, with results announced in November, and holds a 5/5 Trustpilot rating and ASTA membership.
What makes a villa rental company award winning rather than just large?
Scale is easy to buy and hard to judge. The distinctions that matter are whether every property has been physically visited, whether the service standard is written down before the booking rather than improvised after it, and whether guests come back. Ask any villa company those three questions and compare the answers.
Are all the villas inspected in person?
Yes. Every home in the collection has been visited by our own team rather than listed from a partner feed, which is the practical difference between a curated collection and a marketplace. Ask about a specific villa and we will tell you when it was last seen and by whom.
How many villas and destinations does the collection cover?
Roughly 2,400 villas across 83 destinations, spanning Italy, the Caribbean, the wider Mediterranean, Mexico, Asia and beyond. The full list is on the destinations directory.
What is The Haute Standard?
A 21-day pre-arrival protocol that runs on every booking: preferences and dietary needs captured, the house team briefed, provisioning set, transfers aligned to real flight times, and a written run-of-stay delivered before departure. Each file carries one named specialist from first enquiry through to the end of the stay.
Can I verify these claims independently?
Most of them. The Luxury Lifestyle Awards result is published by the awarding body, the Condé Nast nomination is a matter of public record, Trustpilot reviews sit on a platform we do not control, and ASTA membership is searchable in the member directory. The return rate and payment-dispute record are internal figures and are stated as such on this page.
Tell us your dates, your group and how you like to travel. A specialist will come back with a private shortlist, with staffing and inclusions set out in writing. At no cost, and with no obligation.
The Luxury Lifestyle Awards result, the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice 2026 nomination, the Trustpilot rating and ASTA membership are all matters of public record and can be checked with those organisations directly. The Condé Nast entry is a nomination; results are announced in November 2026 and nothing on this page describes it as a win. The return rate, the payment-dispute record, the villa and destination counts and the inspection process are internal to Haute Retreats and are identified as such in the table above. Billionaire Villa Index rankings are from our own booking and enquiry data.
