January 2027 in Los Cabos: Staffed Villas Available After the Holidays (Updated November 6)

Updated Friday, November 6, 2026, with written confirmations from the owners received on Thursday, November 5. This page is updated each Friday only when something has actually changed, and it comes down on January 31, 2027.
Cabo in January is a different place from Cabo in the last week of December. The holiday rush is over by the sixth. The high season is not. Nor are the whales. Our Los Cabos page runs the high season from December to April and describes it in a line: dry, sunny days, and humpback whales passing the coast. Some families could not find a house for the holidays. Others did not want one. For both, the weeks after Epiphany are the calmer half of the season, and the staffed villas that still have them are listed below.
Two houses are on this first version, one in Pedregal and one in Hacienda Beach. Both owners have confirmed their January weeks to us in writing. Where a line below shows a placeholder, the confirmation is held by our concierge and the exact weeks go in on publication.
What Cabo in January feels like
January belongs to the whales. Humpbacks come down the Pacific coast of Baja in the high season. From a house on the Pacific side, like La Datcha in Pedregal, they are something you see from the terrace with your coffee. Not a trip you book. The listing for La Datcha describes its beach as better for strolling and whale-spotting than for swimming, which is the honest description of the Pacific side in winter. For swimming, the calmer water is on the Sea of Cortez side, a short drive away.
On the water, January is boat season too. The marina at Cabo San Lucas is where the charters leave, for the whales, for fishing, or for a slow afternoon along the cliffs at the tip of the peninsula. Our concierge books the boat with the villa, not after arrival, because the good captains are spoken for early in the high season.
As for Cabo weather in January, we keep to what our destination page says, which is dry and sunny days through the high season. We do not quote a temperature here. Our page does not give one for January on its own, and a number we cannot source is not one we will print. What we can say is that a January week in Cabo is a week outside. Breakfast on the terrace. The pool through the afternoon. Dinner outdoors on most nights, with a sweater after dark.
Staffed villas with January on the calendar
Villa La Datcha sits beachfront inside the gated community of Pedregal, on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas. Ten bedrooms and twelve bathrooms. Its listing labels it Fully Staffed, with a house manager who plans the days, from the morning boat to the celebratory dinner, and tags for a private chef, butler service and maid service. A heated pool, a jacuzzi, an outdoor stereo and a gas grill on the terrace; restaurants and nightlife two kilometres away; the Cabo San Lucas marina a ten-minute drive. A return airport transfer with a private driver is included on stays of three nights or more.
For January the listing is clear. From January 6 to February 28, 2027, the minimum stay is three nights. That rule is what makes a long weekend possible in the middle of the high season. The owner’s written answer on the weeks themselves: [PARTNER-CONFIRMED as of November 5: January 2027 weeks open].
Mar Azul is the second house, in Hacienda Beach, the gated community its listing calls Palmilla’s sister community, on the Sea of Cortez side of Cabo San Lucas. Seven bedrooms and seven and a half bathrooms. The staff listed on the house is a housekeeper every day, a cook for breakfast and lunch, a butler and a concierge, under the Fully Staffed label. The marina and the town are a walk of five to eight minutes from the front door, and the beach is outside the gate.
Mar Azul’s listing shows its minimum nights only until December 18, 2026, so January is not on the page. The owner has confirmed the January periods to us in writing: [PARTNER-CONFIRMED as of November 5: January 2027 weeks open and minimum nights]. We publish only what the owner has confirmed, and we update the line on Friday if it changes.

Which of the two suits a family for Cabo in January depends on the evening, as it usually does here. La Datcha is a house you stay in: ten bedrooms, a house manager, the Pacific in front and a short drive to town. Mar Azul is a house you walk out of: dinner at the marina on foot, the cook covering breakfast and lunch, the beach at the gate.
A January week at La Datcha, day by day

Here is how the house manager at a house like La Datcha would run a week in mid-January for a family of twelve, built from the services on its listing rather than from a real stay.
Day one is the arrival. The driver meets the flight at SJD, the drive takes the better part of an hour, and the house is stocked before the cars reach Pedregal. Dinner is at home. Nobody goes out.
Day two belongs to the Pacific. Breakfast on the terrace at eight, whales offshore if the morning is clear, the heated pool by ten. The beach in front is for walking, not swimming, so the children spend the morning in the pool and the adults walk the sand.
Day three is the boat. The concierge has booked a morning charter from the marina, ten minutes away by car, and the family is back for a late lunch from the chef.
Days four and five are slower. A round of golf for whoever wants it, the jacuzzi at sunset, a dinner in town two kilometres away on one of the evenings. Day six is the one the family remembers: nothing booked, the house manager setting a long table outside for the last dinner. Day seven, the drive back to SJD after breakfast, with the house manager settling the account the evening before so that nobody reads a bill in the car.
A January week at Mar Azul
At Mar Azul the shape of the week is the walk. The cook serves breakfast and lunch at the house, and in the evening the family walks five to eight minutes to the marina for dinner. Mornings are the beach outside the gate. One afternoon is a water taxi towards the tip of the peninsula, ten minutes from the house on foot. Another is a boat for the whales, which leaves from the same marina the family walks to every night. Seven bedrooms suit two or three families travelling together who want the town in the evening and the house by day.
Getting in, getting out on the water
Most guests fly into Los Cabos International, SJD. From there, the listing for La Datcha puts the drive at 45 to 60 minutes in normal conditions and up to 75 in the busiest holiday periods. By the second week of January those periods are behind. Mar Azul’s listing gives 35 to 45 minutes from SJD by highway. Private aircraft can land at Cabo San Lucas instead, which is 20 to 30 minutes from La Datcha and 15 to 20 from Mar Azul.
Our concierge times the transfer to the flight and has the villa stocked before the family arrives, which our destination page promises for every house on the cape. At La Datcha the included return transfer covers the airport run. At Mar Azul we book it at the contract.
Getting out on the water is the easier half. From La Datcha the marina is a ten-minute drive. From Mar Azul it is a five- to eight-minute walk, and the water taxis that run out towards the tip of the peninsula leave about ten minutes from the house on foot. A whale-watching morning, a fishing charter, a sunset sail: the concierge books each one and the house manager or butler fits the day around it.
How early January books
Our Los Cabos page gives the booking windows plainly. Nine to twelve months ahead for Christmas, New Year, Presidents’ Day and Easter. Six to nine months ahead for the rest of the December to April high season, which includes January.
By that measure, early November is already past the usual window for January. We say that as a fact of the calendar, not as pressure. It explains why this page lists two houses rather than ten, and why each one appears only with an owner’s written confirmation. For a family deciding late on Cabo in January, the weeks after the sixth can still work. Shorter minimums help: three nights at La Datcha from January 6.
We will not tell you a house is the last one, or that a week will go by Friday. If a week goes, this page will say so on the following Friday, under the heading below.
What changed this week
First version, published November 6, 2026. Nothing to report yet. Each Friday until January 29, 2027, any real change, a week confirmed, a week taken, a house added, will be listed here with its date. If nothing has changed, this section will say so.
Two questions we are asked about January
Do the holiday minimums still apply in January? At La Datcha they end on January 5. Its listing sets seven nights from December 18 to January 5, then three nights from January 6 to February 28. A family arriving on the sixth or later works with the shorter rule. Mar Azul’s January minimums are part of the owner’s written confirmation above.
Is Cabo San Lucas in January busy? It is the high season, so the marina and the restaurants are open and full in the evenings. But the first weeks after the holidays are quieter than Christmas and quieter than Presidents’ Day in February, which our page lists among the weeks that book first. Los Cabos in January, in short, has the season without its peaks.
Who January suits, and who it does not
A January week suits a couple, a family whose children’s school calendar allows a week in term time, or a group of friends who would rather have the high season without the holiday crowd. It suits golfers, whale-watchers and anyone who spent Christmas at home and wants a week of sun before February. Families with school-age children usually cannot take it, which is part of why the houses are calmer.
It suits less well a group that wants a particular house over a particular weekend in the middle of the month, because two months out that is the kind of request that may need a second choice. We say so on the first call, and we send the second choice with the first.
Both houses on this page are the ones we can stand behind today, with the owners’ confirmations in hand. Others will join only on the same terms. For the rest of the cape, our cabo rentals cover every area, and the wider country is on our page for Mexico luxury villas and resorts. Our villas with a full house staff are gathered in one collection, and every booking comes with a dedicated concierge who plans the week before the flight.
Send the January dates, the number of people and whether the evenings are for the town or the house, and we will tell you which of these villas the owner has confirmed for those nights. Request a Tailored Selection
