With its lavish tropical scene picture-immaculate shorelines, Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast draws explorers of all ages from close and far. Whether you’re a surfer, snorkeler or nightfall chaser, Costa Rica is a wonderful place to explore and these beautiful beaches in Costa Rica will inspire your next vacation.  Sabrina and her family lived for four years in magical Costa Rica, right in Guanacaste. Sabrina used to  live 5 minutes walk to Playa Conchal, and that was her favorite beach, please find below 5 of the top Costa Rica Beaches.

Playa Avellana

Playa Avellanas

Set along what is known as the ‘Brilliant Coast’ is Playa Avellanas, a genuine surfers’ heaven. The great waves – that can reach up to 20ft –  gave the name to this beach as the “Little Hawaii”. If you have just started to learn surfing, Playa Avellana is the perfect setting. You’ll be enchanted to find that you have the shoreline all to yourself.

When in Playa Avellana you should not miss going to have a meal at Lola’s, a beach bar known by vacationers and local people. Appreciate a cool lager under the almond trees that shape a characteristic shaded covering. One note: on the off chance that you see a big pig walking around the region or cooling along on the shore, don’t stress, she’s not lost. That is only Lola’s mascot Lolita doing her every day rounds. Beautiful beachfront villas are located at Hacienda Pinilla on Playa Avellanas.

Playa Conchal

Playa Conchal (shell beach) is located in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. We believe it’s rare to find a Caribbean beach on the Pacific Coast, but this beach is amazing and you will enjoy snorkelling. Playa Conchal is perfect for families with children, the water is calm and clean. Everyone loves all the colourful shells that this beach is made of, pink, white, and tan shells make up the sand. The waves are gentle and break these treasures into polished granules, another reason this beach is so unique.

What makes Playa Conchal so special? The location, when living in Costa Rica Sabrina and her family discovered Playa Conchal and decided to live 5 minutes walk from this beautiful heaven. In fact this beach is virtually cut off from the rest of the world. You can reach Playa Conchal along the shore from the adjacent fishing village of Playa Brasilito or if you are a guest at Reserve Conchal.

It is set between two rocky points, Playa Conchal with its calm water is great for swimming.

Finally after many years of efforts, the Flamingo Marina project is under going and promise to be one of the best marinas along this coast.

Flamingo waters are home to lots of fishes to name a few Sailfish, Marlin, Roosterfish, Snapper and Yellow Fin Tuna.

Playa Grande

Playa Grande, is located just a short drive from Playa Flamingo and it is a top surfing location also home to Las Baulas National Marine Park. This park is considered one of the world’s most important leatherback turtle nesting sites. The leatherback nesting season runs from mid-October to mid-February. The best time to visit this park is at night that is when guided tours to watch these magnificent creatures as the lay their eggs.

Playa Grande has amazing waves accessible to surfers of all skill levels. The surf breaks are consistent and moderate, much less crowded than Tamarindo. The warm waters throughout the year makes the surf of Playa Grande the best to catch the perfect wave.
