Beach Escapes Two

Beach Escapes Two is a newly built one-bedroom villa for two adults on Chalk Sound, Providenciales, with a private beach where you wake up to the sound of the waves, a private pool and an ocean-view bedroom. The bath is the detail we mention first: a tub handmade from crushed stone and shipped over from Bali.

Two adults, and only two. Couples looking at villas in Turks and Caicos often end up in houses built for eight; this one was built for a pair. If you’re two couples travelling together, Beach Escapes One stands right beside it and can be booked at the same time, which turns the pair into a two-bedroom stay.

THE HOUSE

Newly constructed and contemporary, the villa has modern, stylish interiors and a full kitchen. Air conditioning and ceiling fans keep it cool, and there’s Wi-Fi, a sound system, a television, a washer and dryer, an iron, a safe and a barbecue grill. Outside, the living areas are generous for a one-bedroom house, framed by landscaped planting, and they were laid out to be used from breakfast to the last drink of the night.

THE BEDROOM

Ocean views from the bedroom, and the stone tub inside it. Showering is a choice between indoors and a private outdoor shower, and both look out to sea. One bathroom in all. Bed size isn’t given in the villa details, so we confirm it with the house before you book, together with anything else you’d like to know about the room.

THE BEACH AND THE POOL

Your own stretch of private beach is the reason to book it. The private pool measures ten feet by twenty and is five feet deep, with no lifeguard on duty. Dinner on the pool terrace is the obvious plan most nights. A double kayak is supplied for the turquoise water of Chalk Sound National Park, where you can swim, paddle and look for the rock iguanas that live on the tiny offshore islands. By day it’s sun and sea; at night the sky fills with stars.

THE SERVICE

One midweek cleaning is included in a weekly stay. For days at Provo’s public beaches the villa lends you a cooler, folding beach chairs, an umbrella and beach towels. No staff are listed beyond the cleaning, so cooking is yours, or you drive out: Las Brisas Restaurant & Bar, which looks over Chalk Sound, is one of several places to eat in the area.

THE RULES

Rates are subject to the 12 per cent government tax. Adults only, two at most, with no children and no pets, and no parties. Visitors who aren’t on the booking need the host’s written permission. Power and water are expensive on the islands, so the house asks you to use both carefully and to keep doors and windows shut while the air conditioning runs. Minimum stays are five nights for most of the year and seven at Thanksgiving week and over Christmas and New Year. Arrive after 4 pm, leave by 10 am.

THE LOCATION

Taylor Bay and Sapodilla Bay, two soft-sand beaches, are close by, both with calm, shallow water that’s good for floating. Winter is sunset season on both, and either suits an early walk in any season.
