Chalet on the Rocks
Description
Below the Brévent, in its own rock garden above Chamonix, Chalet on the Rocks faces south over the valley, with Mont Blanc, the Aiguille du Midi and the Glacier des Bossons lined up in front of it. Town is a twelve-minute walk; the Brévent and Aiguille du Midi lifts are three minutes by car, and Geneva Airport is 97 km away.
Five en-suite bedrooms sleep up to eleven, bunk room included, with a chalet manager on hand through the stay. We’d suggest it for a family ski week or for friends who want to be close to town without hearing it. Of the chalets in the French Alps on our books, it’s the one we’d pick for the view from the hot tub.
THE CHALET
Stone on the ground floor, old grey wood from farms and cottages above, and inside a single open volume: three steel frames carry the fourteen-metre roof span, so there are no interior walls to break up the glass. Two living rooms sit under floor-to-ceiling windows, with a fireplace, a library for the reading hour and a solid cedar dining table facing Mont Blanc. In the kitchen, Boffi cabinetry and Gaggenau appliances. Outside, two terraces and a barbecue corner on the solid-wood deck, three balconies, a ski room with boot warmers, and a garage for two cars.
THE HOT TUB AND THE SAUNA
The outdoor jacuzzi sits on the deck, south-facing, with the whole Mont Blanc range in front of it. Indoors, the sauna has dual fountain showers. Then back to the fire.
THE BEDROOMS
The master takes the upper floor, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a curtain system that opens the view by day and night, heated dark hardwood floors and its own bathroom. Downstairs, the four other bedrooms sit beside the sauna and a second living room: three double-or-twin rooms and one bunk room, the family suite. Bathrooms are Agape, with Aesop products, and every bedroom has a Loewe TV.
THE SERVICE
A dedicated chalet manager looks after the house and the plans. Breakfast and daily cleaning are included, with luxury linen, Wi-Fi, Netflix and Apple TV. On request the team shops, cooks and serves dinner in your kitchen, or books an outside private chef; the owner also hosts patisserie courses. Ski instructors, mountain guides, spa bookings, a chauffeur, a masseuse and a stocked wine cellar are all arranged on demand.
THE LOCATION
Chamonix’s centre is a twelve-minute walk, the Brévent and Aiguille du Midi lifts three minutes by car. In winter the valley is off-piste and mountaineering country; in summer there’s golf, paragliding, hiking, biking, kayaking and an adventure park for children within walking distance of the chalet. Geneva is 97 km, Chambéry 143 km, Lyon 217 km, with private transfers on request. For how the season books, our alpine chalet playbook for winter 2026/27 is the place to start.
