Which island for which trip
Turks and Caicos is the island for water: the calm, shallow water of Grace Bay and Long Bay, and some of the easiest flights from the United States. St Barts is the social one, small and French, with Gustavia, St-Jean and the beaches minutes apart. Anguilla is the quiet one, with long beaches and a serious table. Barbados has the beachfront estates of the west coast and the villas of the Sandy Lane Estate, with its golf. The Dominican Republic has some of the largest estates, the golf of Punta Cana and Casa de Campo, and private resorts for one group. St Martin has the beaches of Terres Basses on its French side, and one of the most connected airports in the region.
Caribbean villas with staff
Many of our Caribbean villas come with staff, and what each includes is set out before you book. The Great House in Barbados and Villa Le Bleu in Anguilla are fully staffed; Sandy Lane – Sanzaru has a chef, a butler, a laundress and daily housekeeping; at Kishti West in Anguilla and Le Chateau des Palmiers in St Martin the chef cooks three meals a day. At Dream Estate in Turks and Caicos and ÀNI Anguilla, the stay is all-inclusive, and meals and drinks are part of it.
Villas for large groups and families
The Great House sleeps 30 in twelve suites and ÀNI Dominican Republic 28 in fourteen bedrooms. Dream Estate at Ambergris Cay, Villa Hawksbill and Sandy Lane – Sanzaru each sleep 22, and Villa Le Bleu and ÀNI Anguilla 20. For young children, Turks and Caicos has the calm, shallow water of Grace Bay and Long Bay; Dream Estate includes the island’s kids’ club, and the water inside Little Harbour at Villa Le Bleu is calm enough for the youngest swimmers.
Getting to the islands
Turks and Caicos, Barbados, Punta Cana and St Martin all have nonstop flights from the United States: about two hours from Miami to Providenciales, three to St Martin and four to Barbados. St Barts is a flight of about fifteen minutes from St Martin, and Anguilla about ten minutes by air or about 25 minutes by ferry. Your concierge arranges every connection, timed to your flights.
Minimum stays
Minimum stays are set villa by villa. In Punta Cana, Corales 40 asks for three nights for most of the year, and seven over Christmas and New Year; in Anguilla, Villa Le Bleu asks for four for most of the year, six from Thanksgiving week to mid-December and seven over Christmas and New Year. We confirm the minimum for your dates in writing.
When to go
The best time to visit the Caribbean
The islands are warm all year. Each season suits a different trip.
High season
Sunny, settled weeks across the islands, with Christmas, New Year, Presidents’ week and Easter at the peak. The weeks that book first.
Early summer
Warm days, warm evenings and fewer people on the beaches; in Turks and Caicos, little rain.
Summer holidays
The school holidays, and long days on the water. Barbados lies outside the main hurricane track.
The quiet season
The quietest months on the islands. The Atlantic hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and your specialist advises on the island and the weeks.
Book 9 to 12 months ahead for Christmas, New Year and Easter, and 6 to 9 months ahead for other weeks.

What is the best Caribbean island for a villa stay?
It depends on the trip. Turks and Caicos is best for calm, shallow water and easy flights; St Barts for restaurants, beach clubs and a lively scene; Anguilla for quiet beaches and dining; Barbados for west coast estates and golf; the Dominican Republic for large groups, golf and private resorts; and St Martin for the beaches of Terres Basses.
How far in advance should we book a Caribbean villa?
Nine to twelve months ahead for Christmas, New Year and Easter, and six to nine months ahead for other weeks. The holiday weeks and the largest houses go first, on every island.
Are there Caribbean villas with staff?
