Beachwood Villa

Description

Beachwood Villa stands on one of the highest points of Providenciales, on the elevated North Shore above Turtle Cove, with the sea on three sides of the view. From the great room and the pool terrace you look down over the North Shore reef directly below, east to Turtle Cove, and along the coast to Grace Bay, a panorama that changes colour through the day and catches the trade winds from morning to night. It is a single-level modern villa of 5,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, built around one twenty-foot-high room of glass and white oak, four en-suite bedrooms and a pool framed by palms. Five minutes downhill on foot is Babalua Beach, a quiet cove with snorkelling straight off the sand and sea turtles most mornings.

Where exactly is Beachwood, and what is in front of it?

The villa sits on the ridge of the North Shore, the high spine of Providenciales, in a quiet residential stretch above Turtle Cove and a few minutes from the Rock House. The elevation is the point: the house looks out rather than across, so the ocean fills the windows from the moment you walk in, and a constant breeze keeps the terrace comfortable even in the middle of the day. The North Shore barrier reef lies directly below, a line of white water and turquoise that you can watch from the master suite.

The beach for Beachwood is Babalua, a five-minute walk down the hill. It is small and sheltered, framed by low cliffs and sea grape, with calm, shallow, exceptionally clear water close to shore and a reef within swimming distance. It is not a resort beach and does not feel like one; on most mornings you will have it more or less to yourself, and the turtles are regular company. The slope back up is moderate, and the concierge can arrange a car for anyone who prefers it.

Grace Bay, the twelve-mile beach that made the island’s name, is ten minutes by car, with the Bight Reef and its beach-accessible snorkelling on the way. Long Bay on the south shore, Taylor Bay’s knee-deep shallows for small children, and Leeward at the quiet eastern end of Grace Bay are all within fifteen minutes.

How do I get there?

Providenciales International Airport (PLS) is five minutes from the villa, which makes Beachwood one of the easiest arrivals in the Caribbean: 90 minutes from Miami, three hours from New York, four from Toronto, and the pool before your luggage has settled. Private jets land at the same airport, with FBO handling. Most guests take a car for the stay, since Provo is spread out and drives on the left; the concierge arranges a private transfer or a driver instead if you would rather not. The exact address is shared after booking, with GPS coordinates and a welcome guide.

What is the villa like inside?

One great room, twenty feet high, with floor-to-ceiling glass walls that slide open onto the terrace so that inside and outside become one space. The kitchen, dining and living areas share this room: a fourteen-foot island in white quartz with a Wolf professional range, custom rift-cut white oak cabinetry, a round oak table for ten, and Restoration Hardware furnishings throughout. The palette is white, pale oak, stone and matte black, deliberately quiet so that the sea does the decorating.

Everything is on one level, with no interior stairs. High-speed fibre Wi-Fi reaches the terrace and the pool, every bedroom and living area has its own air-conditioning control, and there is a washer and dryer in the house.

How are the bedrooms arranged?

Four suites, each with its own walk-in rain shower and hotel-grade bedding.

The master suite has a king bed and a sliding glass wall that opens onto a private balcony facing the reef, with a double vanity in the bathroom. The Reef Suite has a king bed, twin floating vanities and a garden-facing window with a partial view of the ocean. The Pool Suite has a queen bed and slides open directly onto the pool deck. The Garden Suite, set apart at the far end of the house for privacy, has a queen bed and a glass-walled rain shower that opens to the deck. Two additional guests can be accommodated by arrangement.

What is outside?

The pool terrace is where the day happens. The pool is framed by palms, with sun loungers under thatched umbrellas and day beds for the afternoon, and it is a maximum of five feet deep with no deep end, which makes it ideal for families; heating is available on request. Around it: an outdoor dining table for ten, a barbecue, a fire pit for the evening, an outdoor shower, and tropical gardens. The sunsets from the ridge are the reason people come back.

Is the villa staffed?

Daily housekeeping and a dedicated concierge are included, along with pre-arrival set-up, premium linens and toiletries, and beach chairs. The concierge, reachable by WhatsApp throughout the stay, arranges everything else: a private chef matched to your tastes for a single dinner or the whole week, grocery and wine stocking before you arrive, boat charters and guided snorkelling, in-villa massage, facials and yoga, restaurant reservations, babysitters, and cribs, high chairs, monitors, pool floats and beach toys for families with young children.

What is nearby?

Turtle Cove, five minutes away, is the closest cluster of restaurants and the marina for boat charters and diving. The Rock House, three minutes away, has cliffside dining with a west-facing sunset view. Grace Bay, ten minutes, has the island’s best-known tables, including Coco Bistro, Indigo at Wymara and Infiniti at Grace Bay Club. From Leeward Marina, fifteen minutes away, boats leave for Half Moon Bay, an uninhabited cay with white sand on one side and a snorkel reef on the other, and for the outer islands.

Who is Beachwood right for?

Two couples or a family of eight who want a private house with a real view, a beach they can walk to, and the airport close enough that a four-night stay feels like a full week. It is a favourite for babymoons, anniversaries and milestone birthdays, and the terrace hosts intimate vow renewals and elopements of up to ten guests. Large parties, amplified music and pets are not accommodated, which is part of why the house stays as calm as it does.

Good to know

Minimum stay is four nights year-round, longer over Christmas and New Year; peak season runs December to April and books well ahead. Check-in 4 pm, check-out 11 am, with flexibility when the calendar allows. The US dollar is the local currency. Full villa terms are confirmed at booking.

A few days at Beachwood

Walk down to Babalua before breakfast, snorkel the reef, and watch for the turtles.

Charter from Turtle Cove for a day at Half Moon Bay, and come back for sundowners at the Rock House.

Drive to the Bight in the morning for the shallow reef, and Grace Bay in the evening for a long walk and dinner.

Stay home: let the chef cook on the terrace, light the fire pit, and watch the lights come on along the coast.
