Volterra is an ancient walled city located just outside San Gimignano. This charming small town has a long history dating back to Etruscan times. Volterra is known for its impressive Roman theater which was built around 1st century BC and still stands today. There are also several historical sites such as the Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta, Palazzo dei Priori (Town Hall), and Palazzo Pretorio (Prison).
